We will never forget all the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country.
At AmeriGas, Safety is a core value and recently we have seen an increase in concerns related to potentially leaking propane grill cylinders. Ahead of Memorial Day weekend, we want to remind consumers about propane grill cylinder safety.
First, a cylinder disconnected from an appliance should never leak when the valve is either in the open or closed position. If you smell gas when the cylinder is not attached to an appliance, and it is safe to do so, turn off the valve by turning it to the right (clockwise). If you are unable to do so, immediately leave the area and call 911 or your local fire department.
Additionally, before you use your tank for the first time (or the first time in a while), perform a leak check on the cylinder and appliance. Ensure the valve is always closed before connecting or disconnecting the cylinder to an appliance.
Lastly, never store or place a cylinder indoors or in an enclosed area such as a basement, garage, shed, or tent. Never store or place a propane cylinder in an area of excessive heat (120 degrees or higher) or near a stove, fireplace, or other heat source.

Today we’re sharing the inspiring story of Austin Cox, son of AmeriGas Field Safety Manager James Cox.
Austin has proudly served our country since 2015 and is currently a Staff Sergeant in the Army National Guard. His military career has included two deployments: One to Africa and more recently to Jordan and Pakistan, where in 2023 he helped to protect the transport movement of vital troops and assets across the Middle East. Prior to his most recent deployment, Austin’s daughter (James’ granddaughter), Kimber Rose, was born. The Army graciously allowed Austin two weeks to bond with his newborn baby girl, before he had to leave to fulfill his mission in the Middle East. Extended time away from loved ones is not easy on those who serve and their families back home. We’re so grateful for all our remarkable heroes, like Austin, who put country and freedom above all else to keep us safe.
Today we honor another true American Patriot, David DeBolt. After attending the United States Naval Academy, David joined the Navy in 1985 and was trained in Cyber Crime and Law Enforcement. During his service, David played an important role in naval missions and national security, but to him, the biggest honor was serving shoulder to shoulder with the bravest heroes he’s ever met—many of whom made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.
David has been part of the AmeriGas family for 7 years. The skills he gained during his service time, like exceptional efficiency, have helped him achieve great success as a Territory Manager. It’s an honor to have David on our team and we are very grateful for his service!
