Every day I still see people saying “my apple watch says I burned 1,000 calories during that workout…
Here’s the honest truth, training sessions obviously burn calories
BUT calorie burn should not be the goal of a strength training session
What matters is having tangible data that can prove you’re moving in a linear direction
Depending on your goals that can be measured in many ways such as:
✅ Lifting heavier weights
✅ Being capable of doing more reps
✅ Losing body fat
✅ Adding lbs of lean muscle
✅ Clothes fitting better
✅ Doing more work in the same amount of time
✅ Heart Rate Recovery after a conditioning
✅ Improving your mobility
✅ Jumping higher or sprinting faster
I could keep going.... But the key 🔑 is that you track what you want to improve and NOT just how many calories you can burn on your watch.
I say this because I want you to get the best results possible and hoping you can “out burn” your diet by checking your watch isn’t the magic you think it is.

Pre-exhaust training is a rep scheme that involves performing isolation exercises (exercises that target a specific muscle group) before compound exercises (exercises that involve multiple muscle groups). This is also called a “reverse workout” because it is the opposite of what most people do. Why do this? Increased Muscle Activation: By pre-fatiguing the target muscle group with an isolation exercise, you may achieve greater muscle activation during the subsequent compound exercise. This can help ensure that the targeted muscles are fully engaged and stimulated. Joint Health: By pre-fatiguing the target muscle with isolation exercises, compound exercises that follow may not require as much weight to stimulate the muscle effectively. This can reduce the overall load placed on the joints during compound movements, potentially decreasing the risk of joint strain or injury. Focus on Lagging Muscle Groups: Pre-exhaustion can be particularly useful for targeting lagging muscle groups that may not be adequately stimulated during compound exercises alone. By starting with an isolation exercise, you can prioritize these muscles and ensure they receive sufficient attention and workload.
