Tracy Fischer Mediation is a Massachusetts family and divorce mediation firm serving the Greater Boston region with offices in Danvers and Newton, Massachusetts.
When going through a divorce, many people want to understand their options, especially when it comes to mediation.
Mediation is a process where two individuals, with the help of a neutral professional, work together to reach an agreement. It can be done at any stage of the divorce, although starting early is recommended. While some mediators are lawyers, they act as neutral facilitators, not representing either party. As a mediator, I provide legal information, not legal advice.
Navigating the Divorce Mediation Process: A Step-by-Step Guide
Divorce can be a challenging and emotional process, but understanding the mediation process can help make it smoother. In this informative video, Tracy Fisher, a divorce mediator, shares insights into the steps involved:
1️⃣ Financial Statements: Fill out comprehensive financial forms individually.
2️⃣ Parenting Plan: Tailor a plan for children's time with each parent, covering holidays, vacations, and more.
3️⃣ Financial Discussions: Review and understand assets, debts, and expenses collaboratively.
4️⃣ Division of Assets: Discuss property, debts, support, and other financial decisions.
5️⃣ Drafting a Divorce Agreement: Prepare an agreement for review, recommended to be reviewed by an attorney.
6️⃣ Final Meeting: Go over any changes, prepare necessary court documents if needed.
7️⃣ Empowerment: Gain knowledge on how to represent yourself in court, if desired.
Divorce mediation offers couples a path to navigate the complexities of divorce, with professional guidance and a focus on collaboration.

Probate court to hopefully add more judges:
From the Boston Globe on May 14th, 2023: "Massachusetts lawmakers appear poised to pass the largest one-time expansion of a state judicial bench since at least 2000, embracing plans to fortify a Probate and Family Court system that officials say is swamped with increasingly complex cases.
Judiciary leaders have pressed for the $1.6 million budget proposal, arguing that probate and family judges — who handle divorces, custody disputes, estate and guardianship cases, and adoptions — shoulder some of the largest, and thorniest, workloads in the court system. Judges can then take months to issue decisions, leaving families, children, and others in the lurch with what court officials acknowledge are 'intolerable delays'."
