Thank you Senator Eldridge for your continued commitment to the Restorative Justice community!

Over a decade ago, I became familiar with the concept and practice of (RJ) through Communities for Restorative Justice (C4RJ) in Concord. It led to legislation filed with Rep. Sean Garballey that was part of the historic 2018 criminal justice reform package. The goal was to bring RJ into every community, institution and school in Massachusetts. Today, I had the honor of meeting with members of the Transformational Prison Project (TPP), led by formerly incarcerated people providing Restorative Justice spaces where those who have been harmed and those who have done the harming can come together and engage in dialogue—to build understanding and empathy toward those who have been victims of violent crime. We had a productive discussion around expanding RJ in society, bringing together incarcerated people and Correction Officers into RJ circles in prisons, and the caucus’s push to take the savings from closing prisons into improved programming, and greater investment into communities disproportionately impacted by the War on Drugs and mass incarceration. Please register to join this great panel featuring our Executive Director Armand Coleman !

"As part of The Lenny Zakim Fund's Bridge Builders series, we hope you will join us for this special convening of nonprofit and civic leaders who are each taking creative approaches in their work with incarcerated individuals, those whom they have harmed, and their families to break the cycles of violence, incarceration, and recidivism. The inspiring work being done both within and outside the prison system to address the individual and systemic harms, including those who have caused harm, those impacted by it, and their families will be the focus of this panel discussion.
Attendees will come away with a better understanding of the importance of building bridges of understanding and empathy between those on both sides of the harm and their families leading to transformational healing and forgiveness, with the goal of breaking the cycles of violence, incarceration, and recidivism.
Healing from the Inside Out is FREE and OPEN TO THE PUBLIC.
The Boston Foundation is within walking distance of the Arlington (Green Line) and Back Bay (Orange Line) T stations. Parking is also available at nearby parking garages.

Do you know what it means to ? This Thursday, the J4H team will be at the MA Statehouse lobbying our legislators to pass two pieces of critical legislation. Want to join the fight? Send us a message!

The first bill we will be lobbying for is S.878 / H.1362, An Act to Secure Housing for Returning Citizens. J4H is fighting to dismantle the inequitable and discriminatory public housing system in MA and make it accessible for Formerly Incarcerated People (FIP). That’s what it means to !!

The second bill we advocating for is S.979 / H.1598, An Act Providing Easier and Greater Access to Sealing. J4H is supporting the Clean Slate Initiative to ensure that juvenile records are sealed in a timely fashion.
