o ya Restaurant
Creative Japanese cuisine in Boston since 2007 from husband and wife team: James Beard Award winning
It is a profound moment of reflection and gratitude today, on o ya’s 15th anniversary and International Women's Day. Unfathomable world events and two years of pandemic bring into focus and perspective, that I have truly been able to live my dream for the past 15 years. I have been so lucky to share an incredible ride with the most amazing chef, husband and business partner, Tim. I have been mentored and surrounded by the most unselfish, amazing women and men throughout my career, from advertising to restaurants, and hope that I’ve paid mentorship forward to some others along the way. Thank you today especially, to the biggest female inspiration in my life, my mom Lois, who is the strongest person I know. Thank you for instilling the lofty idea of dream chasing x the very-grounded-foundation of working hard to make those dreams possible. You are my inspiration! My journey has brought me so much joy and I sincerely hope that it has for others as well. There are hopefully many more exciting chapters to write.
Today we celebrate 15 years of welcoming you in to o ya! To everyone who has crossed this threshold, staff and guests alike, we want to thank you for making our dreams come true every night. Our city continues to change and evolve (see the last photo for a view of the developing leather district when we opened in 2007!) and we have loved being a part of every milestone. Thank you guests for sharing your countless birthdays, promotions, anniversaries, and special celebrations with us. Thank you staff both past and present for sharing your skills, passion, care, and dedication that surprise and delight us all. The last 15 years have shown us how guests become friends and how colleagues become family. We truly could not have made it this far without both. Looking ahead, we can’t wait to continue to share this special place with you and to welcome you in through our big wooden door at 9 East st. for years to come. Kanpai!
Due to the snow emergency in Mass. o ya will be CLOSED ON SATURDAY 1/29. Our team will be calling all guests to reschedule your reservations. Stay warm and safe, everyone!
Thank you Boston Magazine for including us in the 50 Best Restaurants in Boston as a Hall of Famer. Thank you to all of our guests who have celebrated your special occasions with us over the years. And the biggest thank you to our staff who make it happen every night.

As you know, we have been beating the drum for Restaurant Revitalization Fund (RRF) replenishment. Many restaurants went without receiving this grant money, and many will close because of it. We can’t let this happen.
As a push of support for this we have organized a VERY simple way to help convince the Senators who are still refusing to add more fund to .
WE NEED YOU and this is not a drill. Without YOUR help restaurants across the country are NOT going to receive the funds they desperately need. The Senate will finalize their decision on September 28, so get involved. Here’s how. Go to www.facebook.com/MassRestaurantsUnited to learn more.
