Popped out to after work to check in -- house is still standing but it has been a difficult winter season! Looking forward to summertime.

Just witnessed a disaster! Such a fun show!! Cast did a fantastic job — getting sprayed with water bottles in the face on stage is serious commitment!! And the whoopie pies from Inspire Cafe were great!

Sometimes layering looks more like this (While hanging in New York with Colin!) A mix of layered accessories that add depth to your look and that can be added and subtracted as needed as the temperatures change. The goal is to ensure each layered look can stands on it's own. Choosing pieces that naturally mix in texture and color makes it easy!

These swings in the temperature have me thinking about layers -- and that got me thinking about this fantastic sweater I picked up in New York on our last trip. I spotted it in the window and fell in love! This unique piece is upcycled vintage granny square blankets and sleeves from various sweaters. And it is sooo my color palette! This is not an outfit photo, it is actually a photo of me trying it on! So yes, now it's an outfit. New England weather, not infrequently, calls for a sweater over a sweater!

Somedays I like a swimsuit with good coverage so I feel comfortable hanging in the cabana playing cards or heading over to a restaurant without the need to change or add a layer. It's not that I couldn't do the same in a string bikini, but for me this feels more comfortable and easy!

The snow might be melting away, but now we are stuck with the mucky mess that is left behind. That is until the next storm rolls through! If you are in the market for a new winter coat, now is a great time to shop the sales. Here is a quick list of the coolest coat trends right now.
1. Extra Long Tailored Wool - in a classic cut with or without a belt - though we love how the belted version nips in at the waist.
2. Statement Shearling - Shearling coats are a winter classic, but this season mix it up with some fun elements like leather insets or a bright color.
3. Quilted Shells - these soft, warm and light weight coats are so convenient and now back on trend. ( I keep one in my car in spring and fall for the occasional cool day.)
4. Checks and Plaids - Classic prints now available in your winter coat! Mix up your usual neutral for a print — many checks and plaids work as a neutral but have a bit more interest.

Beach day -- I rarely wear actual beach cover-ups to the beach -- instead I reach for old favorites in light or sporty materials. This skirt is a classic from that perfectly matches my new suit, and I carry the yellow down with my sandals. This is where a well-built capsule wardrobe really shines -- when I make a new purchase I have pieces in my closet that work with it seamlessly. And for a casual dinner, I can easily throw on my favorite black t-shirt.

Was I writing about winter coats because I was dreaming of Aruba? Landed, then to dinner on the beach at Barefoot Aruba. Perfect start to a few days away!

Tip of the day! I was trying to shoot a quick video but I forgot how busy puppies can be! So instead a quick tip that will update every outfit -- Tuck everything in. With the move to high-waisted (and after years of leggings with long tops) the new normal is short tops. To repurpose those longer tops, you can tie them up, tuck them in or tuck in a small piece at the side (french tuck) like I've done here. It's an instant update to your existing outfits without spending a dime!

Today was definitely a day for a hat! I always have a warm neutral colored hat that works with all my different coats so I don't have to think about it. And this time of year, I keep it in my car for days like today where is goes from snow to sleet to rain within minutes! Stay warm!
