The other day we shared a before & after of a design scheme to a finished space. Today we want to share the dramatic transformation of a family room for a young family 👉 A space that was once underutilized is now the heart of their home, and we’re so happy we could make it come to life.

There’s something so thrilling about seeing the original material choices next to the finished design 👉 Particularly in a new build, it’s important to layer color, texture & different materials to create interest (dare we say, drama?) in every room...even the butler’s pantry.

There are so many ways artwork can impact a room. It can be the building blocks of color schemes or it can be the finishing touches to complete a home. Regardless of when you add in the artwork layer, we believe it’s always a necessary component!

There’s a level of vulnerability in letting us spend time with your family and see your lifestyle, finances, and relationships up close and personal. Your honesty and openness helps us create the most comfortable, unique designs for you, and I have never taken that for granted. It’s most fulfilling for me to reflect upon the clients with whom we have worked for more than a decade on multiple homes. Reaching into your surroundings to find inspiration isn’t hard when you’re in a magical place like Martha’s Vineyard. At The Sydney, the color palette reflects both the jewel tones of the island’s sunsets, along with the soothing blues and greens of the ocean.

One great way to add layers to a space is by adding different patterns that complement each other. We love mixing organic shapes and textures with more geometric shapes.

Lighting can affect a space in so many ways. A large chandelier or a few pendants can create a visual impact on a room, while the way it lights the space can create serious emotion.

Located just off Newport's iconic Cliff Walk, the 16-room Cliffside Inn had good bones and a rich history, but its interiors called for a redesign–that’s where we stepped in.

With a goal of creating spaces that would function well for their family and also be suitable for frequent entertaining, our team developed a plan that put the emphasis on luxe materials, soft textures, and elevated finishes against a palette of off-white, shades of gray, and a hint of blue.

Swooning over this perfectly placed, neutral side table with minimal, yet thoughtful decor.

Since color impacts every layer of our designs, it is often where we begin when kicking off a new project. My saturated designs tend to “pop” on social media and stick in people’s minds, but a peek at my portfolio reveals we’ve composed just as many neutral spaces as we have colorful.
