My presentation, entitled 'Enchanted Lusitania: A Journey into Portuguese Folk Magic,' is a course that I initially hesitated to undertake. The rationale behind my initial reluctance lies in the formidable and, at times, morally challenging nature of Portuguese Folk Magic. In this exclusive presentation, crafted expressly for WitchCon Online, I shall delve into authentic spells and folk traditions dating back to the 16th, 17th, and 18th centuries, which continue to be practiced to this day. These practices, derived from an unearthed manuscript housed within one of Iberia's oldest libraries, have endured throughout the ages.

This is no ordinary class; it is, in fact, a masterclass in ancient Iberian magic that promises to offer a perspective unlike any other. Imbued with historical context and constructed upon meticulous research of the Portuguese Inquisition files, this presentation will introduce you to some of the most potent and ancient magical traditions that persist beyond the contemporary practices of Iberian Witchcraft today.

A word of caution: This presentation is not for the faint-hearted. I strongly advise you to prepare yourself, for the knowledge to be imparted is not suitable for everyone.

Baseado na minha experiência na tradição, este livro ilustra os fundamentos da tradição e noções interessantes do ponto de vista de um iniciado. Contém também alguns exercícios para que, quem lê, possa também avançar um pouco na prática que poderá levar, quem sabe, um dia a uma iniciação. Irá ser lançado este Novembro, e em Janeiro em língua inglesa. Por isso fiquem atentos.

This exhibition of magnificent jewelry, pottery, sculpture, metalwork, and more from the MFA’s collection of ancient Nubian art examines power, representation, and cultural bias—in the ancient world, in the early 20th century, and today. Through a majestic display of art and objects, “Ancient Nubia Now” confronts past misinterpretations and offers new ways of understanding Nubia’s history and contemporary relevance.

The MFA played a key role in bringing ancient Nubia to light, undertaking excavations at sites in southern Egypt and northern Sudan between 1913 and 1932, when both countries were under British colonial control. As a result, the MFA’s collection of ancient Nubian art is the largest and most important outside Khartoum, but the Museum’s possession of the objects is complicated by the far-reaching impact of European colonialism, and its history of displaying and interpreting them has at times been based on incorrect assumptions. “Ancient Nubia Now” showcases the strength of the MFA’s collection, with hundreds of objects on view, some for the first time. Highlights include the exquisite jewels of Nubia’s queens, an army of funerary figurines, gold and silver treasure, and a stele bearing the longest known inscription in the still untranslated Meroitic language and script.
