My name is Andrew Belliveau and I am the creator and founder of the Gastroparesis Pie Face Challenge. Gastroparesis is something very near and dear to my heart as I was diagnosed with the disorder at age 10. In short, Gastroparesis is a motility that disorder that causes your stomach to become paralyzed meaning you cannot eat, digest or absorb nutrients. Although it affects millions, the condition

I came across this quote the other day and thought it was very fitting as we inch closer to awareness month.

Hope is something that helps us get through the day. Hope that tomorrow, my symptoms may not be as bad.

We’re always looking for hope.

Why don’t we make hope??

How do you do that might ask?

Simple.

Advocate. Demand change. Bring awareness to GP.

Let’s do this!!

07/21/2024

Got your time travel gear?

Good.. because we’re diving into the vault 👀

Today, we’re going back to 2019 when Debbie and her awesome crew took on the challenge!!

I don’t know about you but, I’m hoping to see this same energy come August.

Let’s get those pies ready to fly!

The is proud to launch our 2024 fundraising event the “Dash N Smash: Virtual Run/Walk for Gastroparesis on August 24th-25th.

Link to register: https://runsignup.com/Race/MA/Lynn/dashnsmash

Due to being away on vacation, I’m still unable to host our annual fundraising event, the “GP Pie A Thon”. However, after having great success in years past, I decided to bring the Dash N’ Smash is back!

The Dash N Smash is a virtual run/walk that is meant to inspire hope, raise awareness and fundraiser those with Gastroparesis. ⁣

This is a virtual event meaning it can be done anywhere & anytime at your connivence. Whether you’d like to run/walk form your home, neighborhood, early in the morning or late at night, it doesn’t matter! Plus, there is no set distance so you are in charge of walking/running as far or as little as you’d like. After completing your “dash” we invite you too cool down by taking on the to help ! 😆⁣

You can register at the link below. There is no fee to register. In lieu of a fee however, we ask that you donate to G-PACT. We suggest donating $10 for every mile you plan to walk/run (EX: Goal 1 mile=$10, 2 miles $20 etc.)⁣ Last year we raised $300 for G-PACT (), a number we hope to exceed this year.

If you have any questions, please let me know.

GP Awareness month is SO close! 🎉

With that said, we will be featuring the stories of fellow GP Warriors throughout the month of August as a way to further awareness.

To kick off our new “Wednesday Warrior” segment, here is a little bit about my personal journey with .

Stay tuned for more GP Warrior’s stories!

07/16/2024

Do you know what time it is?

It’s Tuesday time!!

In this week’s episode, I decided to share some comments that tend to “trigger” many GP peeps 😡

What is a comment that you’ve heard that had triggered you?

07/15/2024

I don’t know about you but I’m sick and tired of being so sick and tired!

It’s disheartening to log on social media every morning and see a fellow GP Warrior in pain 😔

When we will we get better treatment options? Respect from medical professionals?

With awareness month just 2 weeks away, it’s time to take a stand!

Change doesn’t happen without a demand.

It’s OUR time. Let’s advocate our behinds off this August!

07/14/2024

Sliding into Awareness month like..

Figured we’d dive into the vault and re-share one of my all time favorite pieces faces🤣

I hope to see some creativity like this come August! 👀

07/11/2024

We’re about 3 weeks out from awareness month, can you believe it?!

This year, we would like to feature some patient stories as a way to further awareness. These posts will be featured throughout August.

If you would be interested in sharing your journey with Gastroparesis, please fill out the Microsoft Forms below. After you filled it out, please also DM us a picture of yourself to include as well.

CASTING CALL ALERT ALERT🚨

In preparation for August, national awareness month, I am putting out a casting call for the ’s annual awareness month PSA video.

This year’s theme is “Our Time”.

I hope to make this a powerful, moving, and inspiring video. One in which I hope, you too, can be a part of!

This year, I’m asking for my fellow GP peeps to send in a short clip of yourself while saying one of the lines from the script below.

Line 1- Time, Time is something we can’t change nor, get back.

Line 2- it’s a shame, that for millions across the globe, precious time is spent enduring a crippling condition that many are unaware of called Gastroparesis

Line 3- I’m talking, time spent trying to just maintain life, while not being able to eat, digest or absorb nutrients properly.

Line 4- Time spent just trying to not starve to death and obtain nutrients through a feeding tube

Line 5- Time spent being paralyzed by constant nausea, frequent vomiting, and severe bloating day in and day out

Line 6- Time spent being gaslighted by friends, family, and even doctors who say it’s all in your head

Line 7- Time spent mourning the loss of friends and loved ones as a result of complications from this condition.

Line 8- And all of the time spent wishing that one day, there will be a cure

Line 9- We won’t be able to buy back all that time

Line 10- But we can own the time we’ve still got

ME: The time for suffering is OVER. It’s our time

If you’d like to take part, please direct message me your video by July 17.

Let’s rock this awareness month!!!

07/09/2024

Oh we’re so back with this Tuesday!😆

After a long day spent vomiting from Gastroparesis, there is no better feeling than when the electrolytes finally kick in.

It’s such a rejuvenating feeling! It makes me feel like I can rocket to the moon! 😂

07/08/2024

Gastroparesis Awareness month is rapidly approaching!!🎉

With that, I encourage everyone in the next few weeks to help make a change this awareness month.

We all want a cure. Better treatment options. Respect. You name it.

But all that doesn’t come unless we band together and advocate for one another.

Share your story. Take part in the challenge. Reach out to media outlets.

Anything to get the word out. Let’s do this!

07/07/2024

We’re heading into the vault on this fine Sunday morning…

Our travels take us to 2019 when former Patriots Wide Receiver Julian Edelman helped Smash GP!

With awareness month a few weeks away, I wonder if we can get another big name to partake and help further awareness?!

07/04/2024

OMG, you look like the Fourth of July! 🇺🇸🎇

Makes me want a pie real bad 🥧

Happy 4th y’all!

It’s no secret that Gastroparesis can be relentless.

It just throws obstacle after obstacle after obstacle at you. Or in this case, stone after stone after stone.

As we keep getting these stones tossed at us, it’s up to us to make the most with what we are dealt.

That is, to turn the stones GP gives us into diamonds.

Perhaps it’s using our experience to advocate for those that are worse off for ourselves. Maybe it’s just lending an ear to a fellow warrior.

Whatever it may be, don’t forget to turn those stones into a 💎

06/30/2024

Oh say can you see…

Gastroparesis Awareness month is just a few weeks away!

Have you helped Smash GP yet?

As we work to raise awareness for year round, we are always looking for participant videos to share on our social media pages. ⁣

Let’s ignite the light like the 4th of July and get smashing!!🥧

06/28/2024

Who’s ready to have some fun!

In an effort to raise awareness, comment your answer to the question that corresponds to your favorite emoji pictured:

😊 How do you describe GP to others?
😂 What is your funniest GP related moment?
🙃What foods do you try to avoid with GP?
😍 When you’re having a tough tummy day, what helps you feel better?

06/27/2024

Did you know the GP Pie Face Challenge turns 8 years old in 3 weeks?!

As we prepare for our birthday and another GP Awareness month, we wanted to share some of our major milestones with y’all!

We wouldn’t have been able to accomplish what we have if it wasn’t for your support💚

I wonder what 2024 will have in store 👀

06/24/2024

Keeping the message short and sweet this week:

Keep going!

GP is difficult but, there is no sense in watching the clock go by all day. It’ll make you even more miserable! Trust me.

Keep at it. You got it 💪

06/23/2024

Can you name a more iconic duo than puppies and pie?? 🐶 🥧

I’ll wait…

Love this smashing pie face from last awareness month!! 😂😂

You know it’s a good pie face when the person says I can’t see! 😆

We’re just about a month away from GP Awareness month so make sure to get your pies ready!!

06/21/2024

Let’s have some ! 🎉

Comment your answer to the questions below that corresponds the closest to your phone’s battery percentage 🔋

25%- What is 1 thing you wished the public knew about GP?

50%- What is your go to safe food?

75%- What is 1 piece of advice for those with GP?

100%- What is 1 product for GP you can’t go without?

06/19/2024

Happy Juneteenth!

For those that are unaware, Juneteenth is a celebration to commemorate the ending of slavery in the United States.

Although our nation isn’t perfect, we at the GP Pie Face Challenge stand in solidarity with the African American community as we continue to reflect and promote racial justice and equality.

06/17/2024

I came across this quote the other day and thought it was very powerful.

If Gastroparesis had its way, it would sideline you forever. Just the physical symptoms alone such as nausea, vomiting, pain, and bloating are enough to make you not want to anything let alone the mental toll it takes too.

However, you can’t let Gastroparesis be the director of your life!

Shift your mindset from “oh my GP won’t allow me to do x, y and z” to “My GP isn’t going to hold me back from doing these things”.

Although difficult at times, you can do it💚

06/16/2024

On behalf of the , we would like to wish all the fathers out there, a Happy Father’s Day!💚

06/16/2024

We’re going back into the vault on this wonderful Sunday morning..

Flashback to 2017 when ESPN was kind enough to do a feature on the challenge & help bring awareness nationally to Gastroparesis.

At the time, this was a huge milestone for the challenge as it was the first time it made national news.

Crazy how much the challenge has grown in the years since!

06/11/2024

The sun is shinning and we’re ready for another Tuesday!!

In this week’s edition, I decided to give you a glimpse of what it looks like when someone with GP is getting ready to go out in public.

If you’re anything like me, you give your stomach a little pep talk before heading out.

“I beg you, don’t embarrass me!” Just this once, Gastroparesis. Is that too much to ask?!
