Happy first day of school, huskies!
CCT is back. We will be having weekly meetings on Thursdays at 10am. In the next few weeks, you might also notice that our information and page look a little different. That’s because we’re rebranding! CCT will be transitioning from being known as “Collegiate Community Transitions”, to now being known as “Abolitionist Students for Decarceration”. You can access our discord via the link in our bio, or reach out to us via email or Instagram DMS for more information!

Hey Huskies! Congratulations on graduating and overcoming the many adversities posed this year!

In light of the academic year end, we're sharing some facts about incarceration, education, and graduation to build awareness around the positive impact of education and the challenges systems-impacted students overcome on a daily basis to make it to graduation.

Thank you to everyone that generously donated to our cause. We were able to raise $1,382 toward Michael’s successful ! Michael plans to use these funds for purchasing needed furniture such as a bed for him and his wife Shirley, medication, and basic reentry resources to help him and his family overcome food and clothing insecurity.

"A man coming out of prison is like a baby being born into a whole new world, and it takes a village to raise him up. My village are those who donated, showing compassion to a stranger, and some to a friend. I thank you all in ways I can't express." Thank you.

Hello Facebook friends,

Please meet Michael Lidel. Michael is one of the founders of our organization and was recently released on after 18 years of incarceration. This past week, he has found a place to live with his wife Shirley and is in need of furniture and support in finding clothing, paying for medication, transportation, and general reentry needs. Our criminal system has many gaps in how resources are distributed, and because of this, Michael needs your help!

Any donation to this fundraiser would help support Michael in successfully reintegrating into society and overcoming recidivism.

Please consider using the link below, or scan either of the QR codes to donate to your choice of PayPal or Venmo. All donations will go to Michael’s fund, and please like/share this post if you can!

You can learn more about Michael using the link below that takes you to a website our team created for him.

CCT is launching its Instagram live series!

Our series aims to build awareness around grassroots organizations in WA state that will speak about their and organizing efforts in the arena, in addition to how students can become involved with on and off-campus efforts.

The first interview in our series will be with Fuse Washington, the state’s largest progressive organization, and the interview will be focused on how students may support statewide initiatives and local concerns, and police reform and accountability.

Here are some fun facts about our guest speakers, Kari and Abigail,

Kari puts hot sauce on everything! As a political organizer with FuseWA, she has worked in the community to pass legislation such as the Clean Fuel Standard, elect strong progressives candidates, and respond to community needs.

Abigail does circus arts! As the communications organizer at the hub, she has helped local change-makers engage their audiences through research-backed storytelling strategies. She leads communications for coalitions working on voting access and economic justice reform, connecting community stories to policy outcomes.

To learn more about our speakers, be sure to tune in to our Instagram live on Wednesday, May 19th at 11 am.
