Today we celebrate IUOE’s birthday. On December 7, 1896 11 pioneering individuals met in Chicago to form the National Union of Steam Engineers of America, the forerunner to today’s IUOE.
Those early founders of our union were boiler operators. To this day, in a nod to that history, the logo of the IUOE features a steam gauge.

Local 302 operators drive pile to secure the Hoh River riverbank and will then install a box culvert on the Olympic Peninsula. Local 302 #StationaryOperators at Fred Hutch Cancer Center are always seeking ways to efficiently get work done. Including a robotic stair climber. Why?
