Join a hybrid talk on June 6 from 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. about “CISA Services, Washington State, and the future of cyber warfare”, by Ian Moore, the Cybersecurity State Coordinator for US Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) (and UW alumnus).
In-person venue: UW Bothell Discovery Hall, room 464
Zoom venue: https://washington.zoom.us/j/97920943259?pwd=eHcwbWVCNXkwVHVraS9ocWFpZ0VnQT09
Ian will introduce the US Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), who they are, and where they came from. He’ll then explain the technical and non-technical services they provide to State, Local, Tribal and Territorial governments and the 16 Critical Infrastructure sectors within the nation and the region. Next, he will describe how, specifically, they support the State of Washington
and its many organizations with their cybersecurity and physical security. Lastly, he’ll cover some of the more popular topics related to cyber warfare that are on the news, and some more obscure attacks that don’t make the news, and relate those events to students and staff and why it is important for them to do the best they can while in school, as the next generation of cyber defenders/warriors.
University of Washington services are intended to be inclusive and accessible. For accommodation requests connected to a disability or health condition contact Prof. Michael Stiber at [email protected] by 10 days before the program start date.

Dr. D**g Si and his colleagues at universities in Beijing, Chicago and Shanghai recently had their work published in the prestigious journal Nature. In 2020 Dr. Si led a team to develop DeepTracer, a software tool that uses deep learning to analyze a three-dimensional image of a virus protein molecule and trace the connections of its atoms. Researchers recently applied the tool to decipher a challenging ubiquitin complex which underlies aging and neurodegeneration such as Alzheimer’s disease.
