This is Todd! He is such a sweet boy! He use to be very nervous at the Vet, but, he has been coming in for happy visits, getting his cookies and loving from the staff 💕 so, when he came in today for his actual appointment, he was so comfortable and we even got a lot of tail wags! We are so proud of you Todd! We are so glad he enjoys our treat selection 😊 🤗

To our NBCAH family. It is very sad that I have to make this post. Dr. Raines and her family are safe, but they lost their home. They lost everything. If you can donate anything at all to this GoFundMe to help her and her family get back on their feet again we would much appreciate it. We will be holding her and her family in our thoughts and prayers along with everybody else who is struggling through this tragedy right now. We truly thank you from the bottom of our hearts for any donations you are able to make 💕💕 we love you Dr Raines

UPDATE: Thunderbird lake and Wonderland lake in Boulder have confirmed the algae. Do not let your pets drink from the lakes or streams.

Alright, blue-green algae is getting a lot of press and we are getting numerous phone calls so...just what is this stuff? Blue-green algae - a Cyanobacteria - accumulates in stagnant water. This means lakes, ponds, marshy areas, irrigation ditches, and in an eddy of slow moving streams. Dogs are lappers when they drink and can ingest large numbers of the bacteria. In the GI tract it causes vomiting and diarrhea but can also result in hepatotoxicity, liver disease, and also neurological signs. It is not always visible but often you can see the colored pond scum. Do not let hot dogs drink out of or swim in stagnant water. Remember, the water may contain not only blue-green algae but also giardia which causes diarrhea and leptospirosis bacteria which cause kidney problems. When you hike, carry water for yourself AND your dog. Watch the temperature when your dog is active, watch the distance and the substrate so they don’t run their pads off, and pay attention to the temperature of the surface they are on, asphalt and concrete can get super-heated. You have Air-Nikes on and they are barefooted. If you are outdoorsy with your dog get them vaccinated for Leptospirosis. If you have questions or are worried, your veterinarian is as far away as the telephone. Now, turn off the TV, find that leash, and get outside with your dog and enjoy Colorado summertime.
