To Language & Beyond! Write, Grow, Inspire
Beautiful dog walks in the warm winter sun transport me to those perfect ski days on the Colorado slopes with a beachy breeze and the snow quieting the world. The geese seemed to be enjoying it, too. Watercolor skies as the day winds down.
As we leave the Winter Solstice behind and venture eleven days into the New Year, I'm encouraged that the days are gradually elongating. With another year consigned to the past, the arrival of the New Year encourages us to anticipate fresh possibilities, allowing us to contemplate what we may wish to alter, direct our attention toward, aspire to become, evolve into, or improve upon. May good health and the fulfillment of your dreams accompany you throughout 2024.
"The first step towards getting somewhere is to decide you're not going to stay where you are." —J.P. Morgan
"New year—a new chapter, new verse, or just the same old story? Ultimately, we write it. The choice is ours." —Alex Morritt
Love and daylight to all.
It is one of my all-time favorite quotes when thinking about writing your memoir. It's about having that conversation you always wanted to have with yourself.
"Start with the ground you know, the pale ground beneath your feet, your own way to begin the conversation." - DW.
Looking forward to tonight's full moon, as it always inspires me to believe that anything is within reach.
“This moon, O lunar landscape glow, by reflecting sunlight's passing flow... of energy and vibrant waves to mirror back our feelings so.”
― Andrew Pacholyk
Love and moonlight to you all.
🌕✨ Mesmerized with this halo moon a few nights ago while walking the dog! 🌨️ Did its ethereal appearance portend the enchanting snowfall that graced us on Thanksgiving? 🦃❄️ Moons always hold a special place in my heart. Can you spot the upper part of England and Scotland shimmering under the moon's magical glow? 🏴🏴
Watch for the Full Beaver Moon tomorrow night.

Where Would We Be Without...the heavenly notes, melodies, and vocalizations of birds? Since childhood, I have been moved by bird songs, aware of their eternal presence.
"The very idea of a bird is a symbol and a suggestion to the poet," says American naturalist John Burroughs. "A bird seems to be at the top of the scale, so vehement and intense is his life [...]and heart with song."
It's no wonder the poets are drawn to the birds, the most renowned species being the lark and the nightingale: Milton, Coleridge, Wordsworth, Burns, Keats, Shelley, Whitman—the list goes on.
What are some of your favorite birds? Please leave a comment below.
🌳 Where Would We Be Without the Beauty of Ancient Trees? 🌳
I find solace and mystery walking in the woods, where time slows down and nature's wisdom seems to whisper through the branches of wonderfully shaped trees. Sometimes, I find a soft spot to lie down in their shade and stare up through the treetops. They're like silent breathing witnesses of history, our history, forever present in the interconnectedness of all living things.
"Trees are poems the earth writes upon the sky." — Kahlil Gibran

In those complex, challenging, or dark moments, it's difficult to see the light ahead and fully comprehend that we are growing, transforming, and evolving into the person we're meant to be. We're in the thick of Life. Challenge propels us forward. Unfortunately, it doesn't feel like it in the midst of it. It's only in retrospect that we see how far we've come. Writing helps. Get it on paper. Write it down.
Love and light. Gilly
Sunday Solace!
Work in progress that I wrote many years ago after waking up after a dark dream. I have to remind myself of this almost every day, at some point. Whether it's having a bad tech day, or I've received bad news about a dear friend. Hope you're enjoying your Sunday. Love and light. 😍
Hello, visitors and wanderers and querents alike to my new site. Welcome to my writing world, where I'll post updates on current working projects, inspiration, tips, and ideas for self-reflection and growth. I'm not a writing teacher, nor do I want to be a teacher, but I am an enthusiast of the creative writing process, especially when one gets into that space of FLOW. Who knows what we're capable of until we step back from our busy worlds, get our butts in the chair, listen to our internal voice, and go deep inside.
I'm all about the Spoken and Written word. Spoken because I am a voice talent, and Written, because I love the journey writing takes us on. It's taken me to unexpected places I could never have imagined.
As I post, I hope to open my forum to exchanging ideas and sharing your creative processes and challenges, too. Here's to cultivating empathy, channeling growth, and discovering the courage that exists in us all.
Blessings to you, -- to the sky, the moon, the ocean, and this beautiful place we call Mother Earth (though it's tough at times to feel it wondrous with all the hatred and division in the world right now.)
To the many Paths that lay before us. With love and light,
Gilly
