I am a summer baby and a Cancer sun so I am right at home in these hot days of sunshine, blue skies, early mornings and late sunsets! I would soak in the sun all day and live in perma-summer if I could. I always get really excited for the new moon in Cancer because it feels like a homecoming for my energy every year. I was born just a few days after the Cancer new moon of 1976.

Every new moon is a chance for us to slow down and tune inward. Check in with your heart and see what your soul is whispering to you. Each new moon carries an extra flavor of the zodiac energy where it quiets from, in this case, Cancer, which brings in themes of nurturing self and others, finding and feeling your roots, and quiet, intuitive listening. This is also the moon’s own home new moon, as the moon is the ruling “planet” of Cancer. Lunar energies are all about yin vibrations, calming the nervous system, gently shining light into the dark spaces you may be avoiding. And for those of you who don’t have water in your chart, this might feel super emotional!

When a friend shows up and sees you, really sees you. And your garden. And then tells you this gorgeous bloom is the essence of your energy. Surround yourself with good friends and good flowers.

Many of you know I have been deep down the vortex of learning about holistic healthcare and functional medicine for a long time. I do this personally as I continue to deal with a 13 year journey with autoimmune diabetes. And like everything in the world of a therapist, the personal is professional. I can clearly see the connections between mental wellbeing, brain health, gut health, trauma, stress, chronic illness, autoimmunity and sleep. I am not a doctor, and this is never medical advice, but I will probably share more observations and information all summer as I'm deep in a study of functional endocrinology and was lucky enough to attend Dr. Eric Dorninger's 2 day seminar on it recently. (He is amazing!) I am still absorbing and digesting the material from the seminar, and will be sharing a synopsis soon that includes my own thoughts on how trauma, chronic stress and c/ptsd connect to overall wellness.

I will probably say this again and again.

Chronic stress, burnout and trauma all impact and change the brain, not unlike a concussion. Did you know that concussion / CTE is one of the 6 root causes of downstream health issues from autoimmune problems to hormone / cycle / fertility problems to heart disease to dementia?

In the most simple terms I can come up with, here are the ROOT causes of mental and physical health issues:
• Genetics • Sleep • Toxins • Allergens • Brain Injury (including trauma and stress) • Viruses • Bacteria • Dental issues

Essentially, we are talking about INFLAMMATION. Gut inflammation. Brain inflammation. Energetic inflammation. This is cytokine response in the body wearing on various systems and receptors, creating a complex storm of slowly degrading dysfunction that can take years to show up in measurable or noticeable ways.

Keep it simple. 🩵🩵

The hangover after the Scorpio full moon is REAL. It doesn’t help that Mars is conjunct Neptune or that Venus will square Pluto this week. We already have Chiron in an extended energy field from being exact the Aries solar eclipse. It’s a lot to have all of these planets in the mix at such an energetically intense time. On the lowest vibration this is anxiety, disillusionment, primitive survival stress and core wounding taking over thoughts and actions. Working with astrology helps us detach from the energies just enough to see that we are in a constant symbiotic co-creation with the cosmos and we always have a choice whether we bring our own ego stories and personal pain to the forefront of our existence here. Jupiter wants to sit us down ahead of the 4/20 conjunction with Uranus + ask us to prepare by really aligning with our self-worth frequency + authentic code. This is your homework for the next month. And get real with your rising sign as a way into the clarity of your authentic code! You don’t have to figure it out. It’s all right there in your chart. Who are you REALLY?? T squares help us heal by both creating a clear choice point, and through looking across the zodiac to the missing piece in the T square - in this case, Scorpio!
