Attention to Living Therapy utilizes interventions that foster your goals. For you to formulate new understandings, you rely on new intelligence concerning cognitive processes. Current brain research suggests that therapies that incorporate mind, body and spirit provide for greater and more dynamic healing. Attention to Living Therapy incorporates dynamic interventions such as Movement, Creativity
When we weather the storm, we reap the rewards. Hard work: trauma work, self work, body work - it’s all worth doing. It makes way for the light to get in, and brings color back into your life. As the old stuff gets washed away, new life begins to grow. The flowers perk up. The vine inches higher. The fruit begins to ripen. The earth is soft and fertile. And sometimes, when you have the patience and awareness to look for it, you will see a rainbow.
Emotional unavailability in a relationship can cause great confusion and often results in feeling pushed and pulled by the partner who cannot provide secure emotional attachment. Here are some things to look for:
1. Can’t offer empathy for the other’s emotional distress
2. Avoids intimacy
3. Is often defensive
4. Is often unavailable
5. Avoids commitment; has great difficulty making/keeping plans
6. Displays a pattern of “leaving”
7. Avoids intimate discussions
8. Unable to follow through to the next level of; may not be able to even declare the relationship as a relationship
9. Claims the other is untrusting and jealousy as the end solution to a problem
10. Is often more agreeable after some break of time in the relationship
Remember to look up. Something very cool might be passing by you— which is very different than passing you by!
Releasing fantasy and illusion from your childhood is foundational to restoring your systems and your energy to YOUR original blueprint. Fantasies and illusions are crafted around trauma and in collaboration with your ego. Your ego will take your greatest wound and transform it into your superpower. In our society, we have a negativity bias. We more often than not look at the perceived downside of a situation. We tend to notice when we feel poorly and less often acknowledge when we feel good. Trauma wires our brains to fear, putting us on high alert and making us hyper responsive to pain and potential threats. Invite yourself to do things differently today. Take a moment to stop and notice any sensations in your body that you like, and say to yourself “I like that. Thank you.” ✨
Neuro-linguistic programming is a psychological modality used to help us understand how our thoughts are programmed in our unconscious mind through language.
What if what we think we may be thinking or saying may not actually be what our unconscious mind believes we are thinking or saying? Such incongruence will certainly compromise your internal communication system.
With a respectful nod to Rene Magritte’s painting entitled, The Treachery of Images, Magritte challenges us to see that a pipe is not a pipe. It’s not a painting of a pipe. Instead, it is this thing we call a pipe, and for each of us that can mean something a bit different. For some, a pipe may immediately conjure warm feelings of a grandfather, while for others it may be a reminder of a dank and brooding place. For each of us, the pipe conjures different sensations in the body that correlate with associated emotions.

Stop beating yourself up. Start saying “and.”
Allow situations and solutions to be multifaceted and open-ended by using the word “and.” Create possibility by reducing use of the words “or” and “but.”
The word “or” can keep you trapped in dilemmas, creating situations with finite variables, wherein you have finite choices, and you are limited by your own perspective. The word “but” negates what comes before it, engaging you in a habit of score-keeping in your own life. For example, “I went on a run today, but I also scrolled on tiktok,” implies that the social media time cancels out the run, as though there is then a neutral or negative outcome. When you utilize “and,” you create opportunity to see the full picture, beyond judgment, and you have access to more information. The social media time does not cancel out the run; they were both part of the day. By collecting the facts - “I went for a run and I scrolled on tiktok” - you can then decide how you feel about it - “and I feel okay” - and what you’d like to do next - “and now I’m going to read a book.”

Do you feel like you are on the outside looking in? Do you feel fragmented when others reflect how they see you? Are you a woman? A person of color? Are you young? Old? A white man? LBGQ? Straight? Employed or unemployed? Healthy? Unwell? No matter who you are, we all live in a polarized world. Our planet has a north pole and a south pole. We live in the day and sleep in the night. This results in seeing things as black or white, right or wrong, good or bad. Mind allowing yourself to become someone else’s projection of you. Or worse, strive for that. Leave the polarized thinking and embrace the full picture of who you really are.
Life is naturally magical.
Magical: beautiful or delightful in such a way as to seem removed from everyday life.
