Our Story

After 20 years of reef-keeping, we were tired of heating up our reefs, juggling to find the best spot for new livestock, and torching the backs of our hands while working in our tanks. Dropping significant coin on bulbs that would run at 70% of their initial output after 6 months was simply salt in the wound.

Started as a D.I.Y. in 2013, the team's passion drove the project to a level of capability far beyond what we could have guessed at the start. The AcroOptics LED Reef Lighting System delivers the power and spectrum of metal halides with the efficiency, durability and control of the most advanced LED lights.

AcroOptics builds programmable, full-spectrum light system for aquaculture or marine aquariums. Designed to optimize the photosynthetic process, our fixtures generate light peaks that correspond to the wavelength ranges for photosynthesis, as well as broad-spectrum coverage in 5 independent wavelength bands, benefiting photosynthesis, pigmentation, and other light-sensitive biological processes.

The accompanying software allows for custom light cycles up to 500 days, with configurable ramp time and shape for each timer. The five color channels each have two timer profiles.Annual solar/lunar schedules for any location can be used with your channel output settings by downloading from AcroOptics.com.

The fixture requires far less energy and emits significantly less heat than metal halide fixtures with the same output, reducing heat transfer to the tank and minimizing evaporation, ensuring a stable reef environment.

Custom TIR optics are designed to create a uniform light field across the tank, while minimizing sill over and glare. The 10" focal length of these arrays provide ample space for maintenance.
