Tip: Wear a satin scarf around your hairline to go to sleep. This way, you won't have to re-style your edges every day causing stress to the hairline.

12/01/2020

Tip: Get a diffuser to dry your locs if you typically use a handheld blow dryer. Another thing to use with a handheld dryer is a bonnet hairdryer. 🙋‍♀️ I have a professional salon dryer. I turn it down to medium. Otherwise, my scalp feels like it's on fire! 🔥🔥

11/25/2020

Tip: Try brushing your locs. It can remove buildup and remove lint. It can also help tame any frizzy hairs. My recommendation is to use a soft bristle brush, preferably made with natural fibers, such as boar bristles. Note: this is for folks who have had locs for years!

11/23/2020

Tip: Steam is one of the best conditioning treatments for locs. Spray leave-in conditioner or moisturizer BEFORE getting into the shower because the steam will help the moisturizer pe*****te deeper— which hydrates the locs.

So next time you’re about to shower, remember to apply your moisturizer, pin your locs up away from soap scum, and indulge in a mini-steam treatment! Please do not do this at night. Otherwise, you will go to sleep with funky wet hair.

11/21/2020

Tip: Detox your locs once a year. Soak all of locs in Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV) for 30 minutes. I would suggest 1 cup of ACV. Please be aware that if your hair is colored, the color will fade a little.

If nobody has told you lately, make time for you! That can look like taking a nap, having a good cry, drinking lots of water, dancing to your favorite song, or journaling. Your joy is worth so much more than you realize. 😘 💯

As I started to reinvent myself, I reflected on some things I’ve learned over the years. Don’t follow the trend. Question things I don’t understand. Don’t be afraid to challenge popular beliefs. Always walk with my head held high. When the doctor is hesitant, God is confident! Someone can be fine on the outside, but a mess on the inside. Any standard I set for other people, I have to rise to that standard. It’s not my fault that I’m fu**ed up. It’s my fault if I stay fu**ed up.
💯

You don’t have to have straight hair to be beautiful 💁🏾‍♀️😘

After an appendectomy, cholecystectomy, two hernia repairs and two c-sections, I still feel and look good. We live in a limitless Universe overflowing with miracles! I’m reading this book “You are a Badass: How to Stop Doubting your Greatness & Start Living an Awesome Life,” and it is empowering me to strengthen my superhero muscles to step out and take some risks. For me, the first step is not being afraid to show off my stomach...with my stretch marks & a 3rd hernia I’m still blessed. So I encourage y’all to work out mentally, physically, and spiritually. Life is too short.

It’s been a while since I posted a tip for my loc stars, but I see this problem so much that I had to share...ways to remove lint: tweezers, Velcro, dye your locs, cut/trim, or brush your locs if you’ve had them for 9 months or longer.

Great summer style, although it makes your hair look so much shorter. Received a ton of compliments for how unique it looks.

Tip: Try not to make a habit out of air drying your locs. Continuous air drying can make your locs smell sour. Dry locs under a hood dryer or a hand dryer.

03/26/2017

Tip: Stay away from bees wax and products containing alcohol. You may even want to consider not using products at all. You don’t need additives to retwist your locs.

03/20/2017

Tip: Styles look nice and can help your retwist last longer. However, excessive tension from styles and pulling the hair back can not only lead to a receding hairline, but also bald spots on varies places of the scalp. Sometimes you need to just let your locs hang loose and free.

03/17/2017

Tip: You can start your locs from Two-Strand Twists; however, please be aware that as they begin to mature and start to loc the twists will swell up and get a lot thicker.

03/16/2017

Tip: Your scalp starts itching and flaking after a workout due to fungus & sweat. This is why it is important to thoroughly cleanse your scalp after sweating to avoid mildew growth and itching. Also, cleansing your scalp helps to prevent thinning at the roots that is often associated with excess scratching.
