Then & Now: Dr. Wentworth has been with GGC for the past 28 years and has seen our growth firsthand!

"When we first joined Graves-Gilbert Clinic in 1994 there were about 50 physicians and Dr. Nelson Rue was the president. I’ll never forget our interview with him.

We met him for a tour of the Medical Center first. When we walked into the lobby, there stood this big burly general surgeon with one hand resting on his cane. He was pretty intimidating and stood there, looking us up and down. His first words with a big grin, even before “Hello,” were “When can you start?” We fell in love with him and the Clinic at first sight.

Moving from Louisville to small-town Bowling Green was a difficult transition, but our GGC family made it very easy. All the physicians and administrative support, especially Betsy Cooksey were there for our every need.

I remember many social gatherings- Spring, Summer, and Fall- each time welcoming a new physician recruit or two, and pretty soon our number of physicians in the group tripled.

I am so proud of all my GGC colleagues for their excellence in patient care and good rapport. And we are forever grateful to our current administrative team- namely Chris Thorn, Steve Sinclair, and Debbie Diamond for keeping our group a family- and for helping us all keep the promise made by our founders Drs. Gilbert and Graves in 1937 “a commitment to a lifetime of care.”
