Hey friends! This is a bittersweet post, and I wish I was just taunting you with cheesecake and flourless chocolate...but alas. After 17 amazing years, I have decided to shut down Sweet Pea Bakery.

I built your wedding cake, back when I was a greenhorn in the industry, then I made your baby’s first birthday cake. Now, I make their Sweet Sixteen. Just like my baby, who many of you watched grow up from newborn to a brilliant and badass young woman.

I thank you endlessly for your relentless support over the years. We’ve done good work and created a lot of memories. It’s the reason I’ve stuck with this as long as I have. I’ve loved getting to know you. We’ve become friends, shared stories about our lives, our kids, and just laughed our faces off.

Although I’ll miss it tremendously, I’m excited about this new change and stability. I’m stoked to have a job, a paycheck, and time. Time back to spend with my kid, my family, and my friends.

I’ll also miss spending 5 days a week with Dottie-Michelle Coffey. Thanks for being an epic partner in crime for the past decade!

I’ll be around through Friday. Case stocked. Stop by and say hey! I’ll miss you all. A lot.

Bozeman's living room, Wild Joes Coffee Spot is reopening on a limited basis tomorrow and we're so excited! For now it's a bit like your weird aunt's living room; the furniture is just for looking, not for sitting. Call ahead tomorrow to pre-order your favorite coffee (and maybe a Sweet Pea muffin or scone).

Hi friends. Quick point of order. Your health care workers and first responders appreciate the love you are showing them. After consulting with folks at the hospital we've decided it's in everyone's best interest to suspend our deliveries to health care facilities and police/fire stations until further notice.

If those places make an order themselves, we will take the call, but no more gift deliveries for staff or patients at this time. You don't want them sick. You don't want us sick. BUT KEEP READING because you CAN coordinate donations and gifts to the hospital staff through their Foundation. This gives them a way to do air-traffic control, managing needs and safety concerns.

Your kid's birthday is essential, even if the party is cancelled. Date night? Essential. Even (especially) when it's at home, after they are all asleep. We are here for all of it, and will remain open limited hours during Montana's stay-at-home order.

To help us minimize food waste and unnecessary contact, please consider pre-ordering your goodies, or choosing from our selection at Heeb's Fresh Market. We will have limited stock in our case Tuesday through Saturday from 10AM, and stay open until we run out of things to do.

Get scratch-baked cookies, bars, muffins and scones, PLUS your favorite cheesecakes, flourless chocolate and cupcakes. Individually wrapped and labelled by one healthy person in our small local shop!

This is a great time to reflect on what a strong local food economy means to a community. We are grateful for Wheat Montana, and all our local brands and farms.

So, what's new everybody? Just kidding, here's our update about COVID-19 and as it relates to Sweet Pea Bakery. Also, this nice picture of a raspberry pie just to break up your feed a little.

Sweet Pea Bakery will remain open. In order to limit all of our risk of exposure we are making the following changes immediately.

•Our small seating area is closed for the time being. We will be open normal hours for order pick-up and walk-in (walk-out!) customers.
•All credit and debit card payments will be touchless.
•We are doubling up on surface-cleaning, and adjusting shifts as needed to minimize the number of people here at any given time.
•The nice ladies at Persnickety stop in to clean our door handles at least once per day.

Don't forget these great low-contact ways to enjoy your favorite Sweet Pea treats!
•Our goodies are available individually packaged at Heeb's Fresh Market. Buy there to minimize your stops and support MANY local brands!
•We deliver! Order for delivery Tuesday - Saturday and we'll bring fresh-baked goodies right to your door. Or the end of the driveway if that's your comfort zone right now.

Rose Weaver Johnston stands on Main Street in Bozeman, between Black and Bozeman Avenues, with her horses "Carrie" and "Dot," ca. 1904. Rosetta Weaver was born near Belgrade in 1871 to Alexander D. and Eliza Weaver. She married Preston Johnston in 1890, and was later married to Jerome Waterman of Belgrade and James Gilmore. She died in 1960 in Manhattan.

Here's the deal. You waited too long to pre-order dessert for Thanksgiving. This is a fact. No amount of cajoling, bribery, or helpful suggestions about our business model will change that.

BUT THERE'S HOPE! Once orders are filled Tuesday and Wednesday mornings we will stock up the case with gorgeous Thanksgiving pies and desserts. We'll have all the classics, and a few surprises too.

In order to be fair to everyone, those desserts will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. For best selection, stop in either morning between about ten and noon. Thanks for a great start to the holiday season. See you soon!
