June offers A LOT of spectacular wildlife sightings around Yellowstone, and it’s one of the best months to see the bold and beautiful American Badger!
Badgers are members of the weasel family, and have an omnivorous diet, though they primarily consume small mammals, insects, amphibians, reptiles, and birds.
During the month of June, we often see these amazing diggers searching for food across the landscape, and we even sometimes witness them cooperatively hunting with Coyotes in the Park!!

Yellowstone National Park is one of the few areas left in the contiguous United States where Grizzly Bears and Black Bears share the landscape!
Both species share certain habits and habitats, yet each bear has its unique characteristics and traits.
Springtime is such a unique season to witness these beautiful bruins as they fill their bellies after a long winter, and teach their cubs how to navigate life in the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem.
Come and witness these amazing animals for yourself on one of our single-day, or multi-day Wildlife Safaris!

The first day of Spring welcomed us with a sighting of one of Yellowstone’s most elusive animals, the Bobcat!!
The Park is home to 3 species of wild cats: Bobcat, Canada Lynx, and Mountain Lion/Cougar, but it is extraordinarily rare to see any of them due to their nocturnal habits and secretive behavior.
In the past month, we’ve had numerous sightings of a Mountain Lion, and now today a Bobcat! Maybe a Lynx will be appearing soon!

For wildlife enthusiasts in Yellowstone National Park, a Three Dog Day happens when you witness all 3 of the area’s wild canine species (Red Fox, Coyote , and Gray Wolf) in a single day!!
Even with plenty of experience on your side, Three Dog Days are fairly uncommon and definitely require a little bit of luck, but the snowy winter months are our best opportunity for these incredible feats of safari-success!

Is this a bull Moose, or a cow Moose? Males have antlers, and females don’t, right?? It’s not always that easy!
Animals from the Cervidae family, or Deer family, grow antlers rather than horns. Yellowstone National Park is home to 4 different species from the Cervidae family: White-Tailed Deer, Mule Deer, Elk, and Moose.
For much of the year, the presence (or lack) of antlers is a fairly reliable way to determine whether you’re witnessing a male or female Cervid, but antlers fall off and regrow every year, so there are periods where you need to look a little bit more carefully!
Swipe to see a close-up of this mighty Moose, and you’ll see the pedicle between the eye and the ear. The pedicle is where the antler was attached to the skull.
So, even though this massive Moose does NOT have antlers, it is indeed a big ol’ bull!!
Join us for your opportunity to see these titans of Yellowstone on one of our Winter Wildlife Safari’s!

There’s no place on Earth where you have a better opportunity to witness wild wolves than right here in Yellowstone National Park!!
Thousands and thousands of years ago wolves joined into the story of our evolving human culture, and since then we’ve had a complex relationship with these iconic canines, to put it diplomatically.
Their value in the American wilderness is undeniable, serving as a regulating force on the landscape and helping to power the engine of natural-selection in their native ecosystems.

King of the Mountains!
Yellowstone National Park sprawls across a massive volcanic plateau, scattered with an abundance of rocky peaks and steep cliffs.
At first glance, these areas seem inhospitable to wildlife, but alas, they are very much a part of this robust ecosystem!
Numerous plant communities exist in the alpine regions of Yellowstone, and those plants support a surprising abundance of wildlife species, both big and small!
The largest animals amongst the peaks are Bighorn Sheep, Mountain Goats, and Cougars!
Yellowstone’s Mountain Goat population likely descended from an introduced population north of the Park, though there is an interesting history of these shaggy mountaineers in the Rocky Mountains.

We just finished another outstanding Wildlife Track & Sign Evaluation with our friends from !!!
Our busy safari schedule sent some of our guides out on tour, but most of our guides were able to once again participate in this outrageously informative annual training event organized by our company.
The evaluations are an internationally recognized standard designed to evaluate and educate participants on the art and skill of wildlife track and sign identification & interpretation.
There are so many stories left behind by wildlife on the landscape, and our guides can’t wait to share those stories with you on safari in Yellowstone!
We want to offer a huge THANK YOU to Michelle Peziol for leading the evaluation, and also thank our fearless leader for organizing such an invaluable training program for our crew!

Good morning from Yellowstone National Park!!
For more than a week now, this huge & handsome Grizzly Bear has greeted our guides & guests each morning soon after arriving to the Park.
Large male Grizzlies are the first bears to emerge from their dens each year, and they’ll spend their first days, or weeks, scavenging winter-kill across the landscape.
This Bear hit the jackpot early and found a Bison that unfortunately didn’t make it through the winter, but in Yellowstone nothing goes to waste, and one animal can often feed dozens more.
Yellowstone is one of the few places in North America where you can marvel at a real, authentic, and intact wild ecosystem!

Whether you call them Cougars, Pumas, Panthers, Catamounts, or any of the dozens of other names they go by, the chance to see a Mountain Lion in the wilds of Yellowstone is exactly the kind of thrill that makes this Park unrivaled in its excitement!!!
