1. What kind of natural light do you have in your kitchen❓
The goal here is to create a balanced, neutral ambiance. For kitchens with limited natural light (and cooler overall lighting), opt for a warm white with subtle yellow undertones. If your kitchen gets a ton of natural light (and warmer overall lighting), go for a neutral white or one with slight blue undertones.

2. What other colors are in your kitchen❓
Are your counters black? Are you painting your lower cabinets in dark blue? Pick a white paint color that matches the undertones of the other colors in your kitchen. Blues and greys pair well with neutral whites or whites with blue undertones, while beiges and taupes match nicely with neutral whites or those with yellow undertones.

But somewhere during the process, this homeowner got it wrong ❌ We can’t know exactly what happened, but this kind of failure is definitely the result of a combination of things going wrong.

Here are 5 possible reasons for kitchen cabinet paint failure:

1) Improper surface preparation: failure to clean and degrease or inadequate sanding.

2) Bad priming: either choosing the wrong primer or applying it too thin. Wood absorbs lots of moisture, so a speciality primer is needed.
