Our 2022 Giving Challenge Story
A word of gratitude for the 2022 Giving Challenge

As we look toward the 2024 Giving Challenge, it is important to reflect on the impact the 2022 Giving Challenge had on the Manatee Community Concert Band. Our community band. Your community band.

In 2022, the world was reemerging from the Pandemic and the Band was facing very challenging financial times. Although we very creatively posted two virtual concerts, (check them out on YouTube! ) we had not given a live, revenue-generating concert in over a year. Thanks to the 2022 Giving Challenge and the generous support of our patrons and a matching grant from the Patterson Foundation, we were not only able to pick ourselves back up but to soar.

Because of this generous support, we were able to continue our partnership with the State College of Florida’s Lifelong Living Program and are once again presenting live concerts at the Neel Performing Arts Center. Our membership has grown from 50 to over 70 musicians, ranging in age from teens to seniors. Patrons at our concert have told us how happy they are to have concerts made available to them at a modest cost with music that cheers, engages and inspires them. Others have said how very proud they are to have such a quality band representing their community.

And no less important, we have met our long-time goal of “keeping the music playing for a life-time” through our scholarship program. We now have the financial ability to offer funding for such things as private music lessons, new instruments and summer camp to students who play in our band.

Thank you, Giving Challenge, for making all this possible! We would not be where we are today without your support. We are excited about the upcoming Giving Challenge, April 9-10, 2024. Thanks to your past and continued support, the Manatee Community Concert Band is a shining light in our community, and we are excited for the future.
