Starting our 20th year in Sarasota and Lakewood Ranch. It has been interesting to see how art and framing has developed. Not just locally, but regionally as well.
This North Carolina equestrian farmhouse shows how we take a concept and get it to your doorstep. The owner's objective was to have gallery walls and a large eclectic mix of sizes and frames.
Whether you have a farmhouse, beach house or an office that needs some "life" added to your walls, our custom work will be on time and on budget. Every time.
Before and after. Wood block prints. Gold and marble matting on the original framing didn't look good in the client's home. Simple, black cube wood and neutral matting made all the difference.
Another unique piece being finished today. A micro mosaic purchased decades ago from The Vatican Mosiac Studio.
The challenge was creating the frame work to sustain the 40lb lead case surrounding the work. We went with a hand finished Italian moulding from AMCI Regency.
Had to make a mobile frame shop for this work. When the paintings are worth seven figures, it only makes sense to be sure and white glove them in the client's home.
Couple original Jackson Pollock's and another Russian artist to be framed in another couple of weeks.
This client wanted funky and fun "Blues" feel. I think we hit the nail on the head with this one.
We stock the full line of AMCI hand finished woods. All very unique and worth the extra cost.
This client found his grandmother's Ellis Island registry. Objective was to give the feeling of the Italian flag.
This is a good example from the comment I made yesterday about cotton rag and acid free material. Framers see this all the time. An old frame job from a time when no one cared much about conservation.
Here we have a numbered Gauguin pochoir. Cardboard backing and general use tape all around. Probably 40 years old, maybe older. For the most part, the art is intact.
The client simply wanted it to be cleaned and brought up to a higher standard. I replaced everything with acid free materials and duplicated the English translation note card.
It will be good to go for another half century or so. All without cotton rag material.
Despite the fact that the majority of our business is printing, framing and shipping for artists, photographers and resellers, I am showcasing the custom "one offs" that keep this place interesting.
It's not uncommon for someone to bring in 100-120 year old original work. However, this family heirloom was bequeathed to the client and is the oldest paper that I have handled. The "map" was found in their relative's home last month. Dated 1588.
It's rare that I suggest cotton rag matting, etc. I think it's overkill for most work that is fine with acid free material. This one was a no brainer. Conservation and rag matting for sure. Hammered finish old iron frame.
Whether you paid for a pro or snapped a great shot on your phone, we have large format printers to print your memory. This client went big for his first anniversary. Canvas printed to 40x70".
Reflection control acrylic (a.k.a. non-glare) almost eliminates the reflection from outside light. Without matting, the "hazy look" disappears as well. We did a special order for 82" x 54" last month. Being able to see the art during the daylight hours is worth the money.
Staying with the theme of "Can you frame this?" This client had a family heirloom they wanted to display in their living room. The challenge with this is the availability of deep shadowbox frames. We still managed to fit it in this walnut without having to build out the back of the frame.
We get asked all the time - "Can you frame this?". Still looking for the object or art that I would reply "No". Here is a #7 seat from the old Yankee Stadium with an autographed Mickey Mantle card.
