Every back to school season I reflect on this big shift into starting . I always say how much I loved the essence of teaching but I never felt fulfilled in life. In fact, I was constantly drained and lacking joy.

About two years ago I saw one of my 3rd graders who was probably in 7th grade at that point. He asked me if I was still teaching and I told him I wasn’t and explained what I was doing now.

He told me that it was great and he remembered the project where I had them all design their bedrooms… picking colors, textiles, furniture, etc. The lesson was focusing on area and perimeter and I wanted to give them a real life example that was creative. The fact that he remembered that after all those years and that I actually put that into my curriculum was another confirmation I made the right move.

Idk about you, but chasing dreams is scary. The past three years of building this business has been scary at times but so so rewarding. I love what I do!

This primary bathroom renovation is coming soooooon! 👀 We are in the unglamorous part of the design proceeds where we make the Spec Book for the contractor. It’s time consuming but so important! It helps ensure that the contractor can make our design a reality! These renderings are just one of the features of the Spec Book.

Our design studio is slowly getting better and better. We have more samples arriving including cabinets, countertops, tile, rugs, cabinet hardware, and more. I love having the best options on hand for project concepts and final selections. Love this space. 🩵

Picking all the things for our new house! 👏 Luckily I have all the samples already so it makes it that much easier.

F L O O R I N G

The key to a beautifully designed home is that your eyes wander up, down, and all around. Having something you love at your feet is essential.

We think of many factors to ensure we are picking the right flooring for our clients. Maintenance level? Durability? Style? Colors? Scale? Longevity?

All of these factors help us select the right flooring for each client. Every client lives differently so picking products based on their lifestyle is what makes it more than just a pretty space!

Primary bedroom? Same.

Okay now think of a whole house. 🤯 Yeah… it’s a lot. Sprinkle in staying within a budget, color palette, vibe, etc…

R O O T S

Sometimes growth is happening so fast that you forget your roots. 🌲 When I graduated from design school in 2011, I initially worked exclusively in kitchen and bathroom design. I did cabinet layouts, helped clients pick finishes, and relayed all the information needed to a contractor.

My design company has been busy the past few years growing and growing, doing so many fun renovations & furnishing projects that I’ve had to outsource cabinetry designs to others.

I’m happy to say that has officially changed for 2024! We now are personally partnered with some great cabinet companies so we can now fully select, design, and order all cabinetry for our projects and for other industry professionals. 🎉

I’m so happy that we can keep this part in-house to ensure our clients are getting the best design possible.

It’s hard to believe another year is over. Every end of the year I’m like many and do a bit of self-reflection. It’s been a YEAR, amiright?

Personally, I’ve had a lot of ups & downs this year. But if you know me, you know I like to promote positivity and celebrate the wins more than anything. I don’t let the bad outweigh the good.

My husband & I were fortunate to travel A LOT this past year with 3 cruises 🚢 trips to Europe & around the USA ✈️! We met so many amazing people and had incredible experiences. We enjoyed so much time with our wonderful friends & family too. Most importantly, we enjoyed time with each other and building an even better life together than we could’ve ever imagined. 🥰

Professionally… this year was the BEST year! Real estate was busier than ever with many listings and finding my buyer’s their perfect home. was so busy working on projects near and far… we ended up working on a project in Puerto Rico! So grateful for my amazing team & professional partners for making all of these projects possible! 👏

We use these to communicate all aspects of the project on site. This way any trade can walk in and have their questions answered.

We are always learning what new details we need to add to make this document that much stronger.

G R O U T

I don’t know why but grout colors are always a pain point for me! They are the last thing I want to think about. 🤣

Grout colors can really change the entire look of a tile, so it’s important to look at a few options!

Even though it’s one of the last things I decide on, I do appreciate how it brings the whole vision to life. ✨

S I G N S

Nothing like getting yard signs for your design projects to prompt some motivational talk.

This is your sign to invest in yourself. Whether that’s with funds, time, education, whatever. You need to invest in YOU.

This is a sign that you can do things you never thought were possible.

B U I L D

I’ve been a little absent on social media, but for a good reason!

One thing I feel very strongly about is building a strong foundation. I work towards this in my personal and professional life.

After being in business a year and a half, I really revamped our processes and expectations for our design projects. From the client experience to the quality of materials, construction, and design. I really pride myself in what we produce!

I also carry this on in my real estate business. I really try to get to know my clients on a personal level so I can understand their needs and wants to find them the ideal home. We build that strong foundation so the trust is there as I guide them through the ever stressful process.

Not only do I build these foundations for myself, but I love helping others do the same. This is why I’ve taken a little break from the IG world!

I just finished my first semester as an Adjunct Professor for the Interior Design program at Rocky Mountain College or Art + Design! Mixing my love for teaching and design has been an incredible experience! I love helping my students build these important foundations for their careers in the design field.

Now that I’ve figured out how to balance owning a business, teaching, and being an awesome wife, I’ll be back on here a little more frequently. 😘 Thanks for the continued support!

This whole home renovation in Puerto Rico has been so much fun to design!

We are starting to order product and I’m headed there later this month for a mid-project check in and do some shopping.

D E L A Y

The design industry has some real struggles. We are still dealing with delays, damages, and defective items. Projects get pushed due to delivery times and labor. There’s so many unforeseen circumstances that are out of our control! Punch lists are so common these days.

If you are thinking of starting a project in the Fall it’s important to connect with us now. The design period can range from 3-6 months before labor even begins!

While we currently have a waitlist for August starts, we will be starting to take consults from the list in order in June.

It’s amazing how a door color can make you feel welcome, excited, and inspired.

The contractor actually painted this door the wrong color and my client was so in love with the original selection they had it repainted. I’m so glad they did because this color will be such a great first impression for the short term renters. 😍
