The PN Clinic is built thanks to the many generous gifts from family members, young children's allowances, a girl scout troop, art shows, multiple festive events, and caring people. Our Story
The maternal and community health center is named "Patricia Nau" after the founder's mother, Patricia McLoughlin Nau. After almost 7 years of fund-raising the health center was opened in 2013 thanks to the many generous gifts from family members, young children's allowances, a girl scout troop, art shows, multiple festive events and kind people from everywhere. The pharmacy opened in 2015 and the laboratory opened in 2018.
Pre-natal care, safe childbirth and child care were minimal for mothers, newborns and vulnerable children under 5 before the clinic. Unsafe and unsanitary conditions as well as limited access to the benefits of a proper diagnosis and treatment and also poor nutrition makes life difficult for people in the region. Malaria, HIV/AIDS, infections, dehydration from diarrhea, worms and other tropical diseases including malnutrition and anemia continue to dominate.
The skilled nurse and the mid-wife live on the campus to treat 24 hour emergencies and one of our qualified doctors is usually on duty. Disease treatment and prevention techniques are valuable in helping to reduce the high infant mortality rate and for care of the sick. Most importantly, the center provides access to medical treatment for everyone who enters.
