From now on, a realtor won't be able to show you a property unless you’ve signed a buyer's agency agreement first. That's right—they can't even open the door without it! 😳 Getting caught without this agreement can lead to hefty fines, so it's a big deal.
So, what’s a buyer's agency agreement? It’s a document that locks you into working with a specific agent for a set period. It outlines how they'll be paid and what they'll do for you.
Now, hiring a top-notch realtor with loads of experience is more important than ever. Just like sellers interview agents, buyers should take the time to choose their agent carefully.
Here’s a twist: while sellers still cover the commission for buyer’s agents, this info won’t be in the MLS anymore. Instead, buyer’s agents have to reach out to listing agents to find out about compensation details.
At our agency, we’ve long asked our buyers to sign an agreement and understand that if the seller doesn’t offer compensation, you’d cover it. Our goal is to use our expertise to make the process smoother and protect you from costly mistakes.
