Exciting News📣 BM&K, an LJA Company has been selected as the Program Manager for the Barrow County Transportation Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (T-SPLOST) that provides funding for transportation improvement projects throughout the county. This is the largest investment in the county’s history for transportation improvements.

Planning has already begun for the funding that will be dispersed over the next 5 years. The improvements will include roadway widening and capacity projects, intersection and roadway improvement projects, bridges, and road resurfacing and paving projects.

We had so much fun at the Atlanta Braves game last week against the Pittsburgh Pirates! Employees from our Braselton and Holly Springs offices came together to watch the Braves beat the Pirates 6-1!

We had a great night at the ceremonial groundbreaking for the North Avondale Complete Street Project! This project will transform the City of Avondale Estates downtown corridor, creating a more walkable and pedestrian friendly downtown.

BM&K worked closely with the city and provided all acquisition services for the 30+ parcels involved in the project.

PROJECT SPOTLIGHT: Braselton Library Expansion📚

The newly expanded Braselton Library includes an 8,166 square-foot, 2 story addition that provides new space for the children’s wing, study rooms, meeting space, and an amphitheater outside in the children’s garden. The project also included interior renovations to the existing library to create new study space and offices as well as a new 40-space parking lot.

PROJECT SPOTLIGHT: Auburn City Hall and Municipal Complex

At over 34,000 square feet, the municipal complex houses the city’s police department, municipal court, and city administration offices. BM&K served as the general contractor for the complex as well as the 29-acre site, including new roadway and utilities such as storm drainage and ponds.

The new city hall is a replica of the Perry-Rainey Institute, a building that housed students from 1902 through the 1940’s in Auburn. It fell into disrepair and was demolished, though the land – where Auburn Elementary now sits – was deeded to the school system to be used for education.

The site where the city’s municipal complex sits is unique as it is surrounded by a residential neighborhood development, Harmony Auburn.

The community will connect to other public spaces and parking in the area, like the Perry-Rainey Center and Auburn Elementary School, and allows for future connections to Historic Downtown as well as existing and potential trails.

Sent some of our UGA Alums to the Spring Engineering Career Fair and met some GREAT students interested in civil engineering and construction management!

We’ll be back at UGA on February 15th for Employer of the Day, see you there!

We had a great time at the ASCE UGA and ASCE GA Networking Event last night meeting so many great UGA engineering students!

Today we’re headed back to Athens for the Engineering & Computer Science Career and Internship Fair and can’t wait to meet Bulldog Engineers interested in civil design and construction management!
