We had an incredible time at the July Entrepreneurship & Innovation monthly meeting, where we came together to support and cultivate Kitsap's thriving entrepreneurial community.

This monthly event, organized by brings together passionate individuals dedicated to fostering innovation and growth in our community.

Our BE$T (Business Education Support & Training) and Asset Building Coalition teams were excited to be part of the conversation, sharing insights and collaborating on new ideas.

Last Wednesday, our leadership team gathered at the beautiful Heronswood Gardens to discuss KCR's strategic planning and our goals for the next three years. This retreat was a wonderful opportunity for us to align our interdepartmental goals with the organization's mission to better serve our community.

A special thank you to Cristina Roark from Kitsap Strong for starting our day with a reflective listening exercise that helped us connect on a deeper level. We are excited about the future and the positive impact we will continue to make together! 🌟

We are pleased to share that Yanten Winter represented the Building Coalition of Kitsap and Kitsap Community Resources at the Kitsap Mesa Redonda Community Resource Fair this past Saturday. Her dedication to our mission helps strengthen our community ties and positively impacts Kitsap County. Thank you, Angelica, for your hard work.

Additionally, we extend our gratitude to the WIC team for representing our Early Learning and Family Services division, which includes WIC, Early Head Start, Head Start, Food Services, Youth & Empowerment Program, and Kinship Navigator, at the same event on Saturday, July 20. We're thrilled to welcome Thomas to the KCR team as our Coordinated Entry & Supportive Housing Manager! Thomas brings a wealth of experience and a strong commitment to community involvement, which we greatly appreciate.

Recently, Thomas engaged with the Community Engagement Board in Port Orchard, a diverse group including representatives from the school district, law enforcement, social services, and more, all working together in a community wrap-around approach.

During the meeting, excitement buzzed as Thomas shared news of his role at KCR. Together, they brainstormed potential partnerships to better support at-risk youth and families in Kitsap County. Ideas flowed, including follow-ups with families they've assisted, coordinating outreach efforts, and exploring housing referrals.

Additionally, there was a shared desire among social workers to make GED classes more accessible in Port Orchard and improve navigation to essential resources.

We're inspired by the collaborative spirit of the Community Engagement Board and eager to explore these opportunities further.
