The City of Bridgeport Police Civil Service Commission is accepting applications for the position of Police Officer. To qualify for the examinations, applicants must be not less than eighteen nor more than forty years of age on the date application is submitted; shall have a minimum of a H.S. diploma or GED, must possess or be able to obtain a valid WV operator’s license and must agree to submit to a physical, psychological and any other such examinations or tests as may be required by the commission prior to appointment.

Beginning annual salary without police certification is $52,047 and with certification is $54,969. The City of Bridgeport offers an excellent fringe benefit package including health insurance coverage with modest premiums for family coverage and a college tuition reimbursement program. The City provides retirement through WV Municipal Police Officer and Firefighters System (MPFRS) with eligibility for retirement at age 50 with 20 years of service.

On Wednesday, June 19th, City of Bridgeport Administrative Offices will be closed in observance of Juneteenth. On Thursday, June 20th, Administrative Office will be closed in observance of West Virginia Day. Both are significant days, as Juneteenth marks the end of slavery in the United States and June 20th commemorates the day our great state was admitted to the Union in 1863.

City Offices will reopen at 7:30am on Friday, June 21st.

Job Summary:
The City of Bridgeport is accepting applications for a Food and Beverage Supervisor at The Bridge Sports Complex. This position is responsible for overseeing daily operations in the café and concessions stands. This position works closely with the Food & Beverage Manager to provide outstanding customer service and exceptional food and beverage experience for all patrons. This position is required to supervise part-time staff and requires a flexible work schedule, including evening and weekends, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.

This Food and Beverage Supervisor’s primary duties include but are not limited to:

• Monitoring customer service and product quality.
• Training and supervising part-time staff.
• Assisting with inventory management.
• Ensuring all sanitation/health department guidelines are being followed.
• Processing customer complaints patiently.
• Ensuring all equipment is clean and works properly.

The ideal candidate will have at least one year of experience working in a restaurant or concession stand setting. Must have strong leadership skills, be detail-oriented, thrive in face paced environments, and have outstanding organizational skills. Must have, or be able to obtain, required food safety certifications. Supervisory experience is strongly preferred.

Reports to: Aquatics Manager

Job Summary:
The City of Bridgeport is seeking applications for the position of Lifeguard. Under the Aquatics Manager's supervision, the Lifeguard will ensure visitors' safety to our aquatic's facilities at both the outdoor City Pool and The Bridge Sports Complex. Lifeguards will be responsible for explaining safety rules to guests, warning patrons about unsafe situations, and upholding the facilities' policies.

Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Maintain surveillance of patrons within the aquatic facility
2. Prevent accidents and maintain a safe environment
3. In the event of an emergency, act appropriately and swiftly to ensure the safety of patrons
4. Maintain a high level of customer service
5. Perform pool operations and cleaning duties as assigned
6. Assist in conducting scheduled staff meetings and in-service training
7. Enforce all rules and regulations as outlined at the City pool and The Bridge aquatic facility
8. Represent the City of Bridgeport, The Bridge Sports Complex, and Parks & Recreation with a professional appearance and attitude
9. Other duties as assigned by supervisor

The ideal candidate must be at least 18 years of age. He or she must maintain current Lifeguard Training, First Aid for the Professional Rescuer, and CPR for the Professional Rescuer training.

The Civic Center will be open Saturday from 10am-2pm for pool pass sales and pictures. The parking lot will be closed all day Saturday in preparation for Summer Kick-Off in the evening so please park at the lot across the street or by the pool.
