New officers and board members were installed tonight at the Bridgeport Lions meeting. What a great group of members who know the meaning of “We Serve”. Roar Lions🦁🦁
Members also heard from William Northey, an incoming senior at BHS, who we sponsored to HOBY leadership camp at Fairmont State and Jordan Groves, a recent BHS graduate who will attend WV Wesleyan College, and was one of the recipients of an educational stipend. Congratulations and best wishes to William and Jordan! We hope to see you at future Lions functions!

It’s time to calendar the Bridgeport Lions annual chicken roast - Saturday, June 22, 10 am to Sold Out, in front of Bridgeport Middle School. Chicken - $12; bottled water or baked beans are $1/each. Please come out and support this annual fundraiser- supporting many community projects and leadership programs.
Members and guests of the Bridgeport Lions enjoyed hot dogs at the park before cheering on teams in the Challenger League tonight. A great evening to enjoy camaraderie and cheer on the kids.
The Bridgeport Lions wrapped up a rescheduled Flag Day event at Johnson Elementary presenting the program to over 100 first graders. Thanks Lions Tommy Jefferies, Jim Harki, Carl Hatfield, Brad Underwood and David Booth.
Lion Mark Bronsak presented President John Vash with the Leonard Jarrett award for his work with the WV Sight and Hearing Conservation Foundation.
BHS graduate Hannah Povroznik (bottom, middle) presented an inspiring program on her. 4 month journey in Kenya working in the medical setting.
The Bridgeport Lions celebrated Lion Glen Ward as the club’s newest Melvin Jones Award recipient tonight. Congrats, Lion Glen, for a job well done!
BHS sophomore William Northey spoke to members and expressed interest in attending the HOBE leadership camp in June at Fairmont State University.
Lion Brad Underwood introduced speaker, Dickie Miller, a retired coach and teacher at Lincoln High School, who gave an aspiring talk on the annual Angel Love program.
The club’s next meeting will be held at the Bridgeport Civic Center on April 18. Guests are always welcome.
Bridgeport Lions sponsored the annual Bill Miles Beeping Easter Egg Hunt at The Bridge for children who are visually impaired. The GFWC of Bridgeport provided Easter baskets for the children
Boy Scout leader Brian Randolph addressed the Bridgeport lions this evening and discussed how the Boy Scouts remain service oriented and are interested in helping other groups, like the Lions with various service projects. He also stated that the Boy Scouts are no longer having their spring mulch sale but will be having a golf tournament fundraiser on June 24. Lion Steve Heaster introduced Mr Randolph and is pictured with Bridgeport Lions President John Vash.

Pam Hotsinpillar presented a program on Harrison County Healthy Grand Families to members and guests of the Bridgeport Lions Club. She noted that 50% of the grandparents in our county are raising their grandchildren - compared to 90% in Logan Co. Heathy Grandfamilies is a wonderful parent education resource group.
Lion Robin Faris also presented on what it means to be a Lion and the importance of leading with the heart. “It’s not about me, but about We and WE SERVE.”
The Bridgeport Lions meetings are always open to guests and potential new members wanting to assist in serving our community.

Plan now to attend the Bridgeport Lions annual pancake and sausage breakfast on Saturday , December 2 from 8 am to noon at the Bridgeport civic Center. Cost is $8/adults, $5 for children 6-12. Children ages 5 and under eat free. Monies raised help support many projects in the Bridgeport area.

The Bridgeport Lions hosted District Governor Kermit Hawley and his wife, Lion Judy tonight with members of of the Lions Club from Stonewood , Grafton and Nutter Fort also in attendance. The event was held at the Courtyard by Marriott.
Great fellowship, food and icebreakers, all while hearing what our District Governor hopes to achieve in this Lion year. Lions Roar!

On October 15th, the Jane Lew Lions Club will sponsor a Pit Beef Dinner at the Jane Lew Community Building on Main Street, Jane Lew. Come out and enjoy “Secret Lions Recipe” Pit Beef, mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans, cole slaw, desserts, and drinks for only $13.00 for adults; those under 10 are only $5.00.
The dinner will begin at 11:00AM and end at 2:00PM. The public is invited to attend this fundraiser and support the charitable work of the Lions.
Dine-in, carry-out, and curb-side service is available.
For curb-side, you get no beverage and no choice of dessert.

The Bridgeport Lions sponsored the “Boxing it Up” campaign for several years and Hannah Povroznik was very instrumental in this effort while in the BHS Key Club and in her involvement at WV Wesleyan. Studying abroad in Kenya, she is remembering her Lions friends. Thanks, Hannah!
