It’s month, so it’s a great time to remember that “disabled” isn’t a bad word.
There is nothing wrong with being disabled or having a disability—the problem comes in when society fails to understand the pride and agency of members of the disabled community.
The problems come when we don’t listen to people with disabilities about what resources and support they actually need.
Before the month ends, follow a so that you can show support all year round.

We’re thrilled for making the switch to Catalyst ✨
We have even more exciting updates up our sleeve—follow along to stay up to date.
For their professional development training, our members learned all about financial literacy from Eduardo Cabrera at
These tips are helpful during their year of service as well as in their future lives—especially since members from various life stages choose to serve with us.
"On National Fentanyl Awareness Day, the city of New Haven announced its plans for money it received from the National Opioid Settlement Fund.
The city had over $650,000 to allocate this round. Much of it was being funneled directly into community groups on the front lines of the opioid crisis.
One group getting a major cut of this round's funding is Fair Haven Community Health.
'From my office which is 20 feet down the hall, I witness drug deals on grand avenue, its not uncommon to find people in our bushes shooting up, its not uncommon for our maintenance staff to find needles in our parking lot,' Dr. Suzanne Lagarde of Fair Haven Community Health Care said."

We had a blast tabling ✨
If you ever see us at an event, make sure to swing by, say hi, and grab some goodies.
“In summer 2021 Biles withdrew from the women’s gymnastics team final at the Tokyo Olympics saying she had lost her air sense and admitted she “was still scared to do gymnastics” months later. The pole vaulter Bradshaw voiced concerns earlier this year about damaging herself in the pursuit of sporting achievement, while the British gymnast Page has recounted struggles with “lost skills syndrome”, which, she says, fueled anxiety leading up to the Olympics in Rio.
Even before Biles brought high-profile global exposure to the issue, the International Olympic Committee had recognised the need to support athletes and established a mental health toolkit for competitors before Tokyo. With a new Games looming into view at Paris 2024, that has been updated and new measures implemented.”

Self-love sounds easy but can be tricky—especially for people struggling with their mental health.
Remember that self-love doesn’t need to be a massive shift. Instead, it can be tiny changes—even once a day. Over time, those changes add up.
Try redirecting some of your negative self-talk or starting a list of things you like about yourself 🫶
Alexa’s back for another takeover in our stories! ✨ Tune jn to see her coverage of the statewide Su***de Prevention Conference.
May might just be our favorite month of the year—we’ve got a lot of good stuff headed your way. ✨
Did you catch us at Norwalk Community College yesterday? 🤔
We love opportunities like these to spread the word ablut prevention and talk to all of you about why you love this work.
Time for another takeover!

“Fentanyl overdoses have skyrocketed across the country and in Minnesota, but community organizers are trying to prevent them from happening.
One way is by creating a harm reduction station. It was unveiled Sunday in Brooklyn Park at the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church.
It provides free access to drug test strips and Narcan nasal spray. The family of a man who died from a fentanyl overdose helped create it.”

April is Alcohol Awareness Month!
According to the National Institute on Alcohol
Abuse and Alcoholism, there are 178,000 alcohol-related deaths each year along with over 200 disease and injury-related conditions.
Sobriety is a difficult journey and we are so proud of everyone on that journey—as well as everyone who chooses to drink responsibly, to increase their water intake, and to not drink alone.
Love to see our members in action!
Stacey serves with and recently hosted from the Cove Center for Grieving. Loss and grief are an unfortunate but inevitable part of life for students and programs like this help them build the tools they need to work through it.
Have you caught Stacey’s takeover yet? Make sure you head to our story to catch her updates before they’re gone.
