After more than 45 years of combined experience in the wood truss and components business, my partners and I decided Light Gauge Steel Truss fabrication held a great future and considered starting our own business. In late 1999, All-Span, Inc. We began All

It requires a steady hand at the wheel while maneuvering around our truss yard. Our forklift operators play an integral role here at All-Span.
Cold formed steel trusses are light in weight, are very slender and can be unstable when standing alone. The operator must be careful that the truss doesn't flex too far while handling them. These characteristics also make them easy to install, and once in line with their counterparts and properly braced, they form a system praised for its strength and durability.
Big Red is loaded and ready for another trip to Maryland! Have you ever seen our trusses on the road? If you ever find yourself riding next to a trailer full of our cold formed steel trusses, have no fear. Our shipping team's expertise is second to none when it comes to safety.
Here at All-Span we strive to deliver the highest quality product and the best service that we can. With the great people we employ and a strong commitment to total customer satisfaction, we are pleased to have attained a reputation of integrity which has led to a long list of satisfied customers.
Some of our favorite jobs are local builds and projects where we can work with repeat customers on multi-building complexes. This school system in Eastern Maryland fits the bill for both. Their newest trusses were delivered and set last week, but we can remember setting trusses on the building beyond just last year!
Ultra-Span Trusses
One of the common applications of cold formed steel trusses is to form gables or dormers on top of a sloped roof system. What we call a valley set. When stacked in the yard, it looks like the trusses get progressively smaller, but when placed on a sloped roof, the top chords line up to form a level peak.
Most often we build these into our total design of a roof system, but they can also be applied to other roof systems or existing roofs to change the aesthetic of any building. These valleys, made for a popular resort hotel, will sit on top of their brothers that we have already shipped to the job site.
A good omen for the beginning of April!
Even as we stop and enjoy nature's beauty here at All-Span, we are gearing up for our busiest season. This stacked cold-formed steel will soon become trusses for schools, retail buildings, and resorts (and that's just next week!) Call our Sales department today to get your next project started!
It's a beautiful morning to ship trusses here in Bridgeville, DE!
This small load is on its way to becoming a popular convenience store in Pennsylvania, but they look more glamourous than usual against the sunrise. Here at All-Span we try to find and enjoy the small moments of beauty in life.
On most days, a person can walk through our truss yard and find a great variety of cold formed steel trusses for different applications and destined for locations across the East Coast.
Today we see the variety but, surprisingly, all of these have been made for the same project. Step-downs, mono-slopes, and well trusses will all combine for a functional and beautiful roof system on a new resort close by in Maryland.
We can't wait for this project to be completed! Not only will we get to proudly showcase our work professionally, but we also can take our families on a beautiful vacation close to home!
** Throwback Thursday **
Today's nostalgia may only be recognized by some when seeing a distinct motorcycle logo on the front of the finished building. But here at All-Span, bow trusses are remembered for their rarity and challenging design.
It is not often we can catch our fabrication plant in between jobs. They move so efficiently as a team that it seems that there are always trusses on the tables.
This is made possible by our more experienced crew members who prep all the equipment and layout the stops for truss templates. It's hard to remember that an 80 foot cold formed truss starts with small elements and careful precision.
"Tell them," He told me proudly yesterday. "Tell them, THAT is how you load a truck!" When the plant manager tells you this, you follow him out to the yard to see what he is talking about.
We can never praise our loading and shipping teams enough. Without them to assure safety and security, our cold-formed steel trusses would not be featured on construction sites all over the East Coast. Great Job Guys!
These trusses, proudly made for a Air Force training facility, are another example of our cold-formed steel trusses in one of their optimum designs. Long buildings where uniform trusses are built and braced in straight rows will form a roof perfect for this application.
Imagine an open space that can be tailored to any need you have, from offices to classrooms to laboratories. Such an open design allows for interior spaces can be easily reconfigured in the future. These trusses will allow mechanical and electrical to be run uninhibited through the webs. The favorable aspects of these designs are numerous.
MiTek Ultra-Span Trusses
A very common use of our cold formed steel truss system is what is known as mono trusses. Named for the single slope accompanied by 2 flat sides. These often long rows of identical members can be used for overhangs and canopies along the face of a building.
This run of trusses, designed for a Security building in Virginia, form a cap along the top of the façade to hide the flat roof beyond.

One benefit often associated with light gauge steel is its fire resistance, a plus for contractors and owners alike. A cold formed steel system offers a builder a number of efficiencies that lower construction costs, and thus narrow the cost gap, but one of the most significant savings is for Builders Risk insurance.
So it is fitting that this load of light gauge steel trusses is being packed and will be on its way to becoming a Fire Department in eastern New York early tomorrow.
Located in scenic Bridgeville, Delaware, All-Span is conveniently located to serve all of the mid-Atlantic.

A continuing challenge in the construction industry is rising costs and longer waits for steel bar joists. Cold Formed Steel trusses have always been a option to replace bar joists, but we are seeing them becoming increasingly popular. CFS trusses are lighter than bar joists and therefore may be easier to handle in the field. They offer a wide range of joist bearing conditions that can be custom tailored to the specific project. This load was shipped to North Carolina for a new high school, and we hope teenagers will appreciate a comfortable learning environment for years to come.
Delaware is not known for large amounts of snow, but 2022 started off with a sizeable storm and the promise of more to come later this week! There is something to be said for the beauty of snow and steel.
