RipTide Bait and Tackle

Here is my buddy Mike Thompson AKA Marine Mike or Alpha Appliance Man Mike or however you know him. The last report I posted about him he had suffered a stroke and things were not looking to good for him. It was questionable if he was ever going to be able to walk or talk again. He refused to listen to what they said he couldn't do and decided to focus on what he CAN do. The other day he was able to get out onto the Brigantine surf and not only cast a rod out but CATCH a fish and when Barb sent me this pic it really made my day!!!!! Life will give us challenges all the time and it's just a matter of how we deal with them and watching Mike continue with his comeback and continue to get better really does inspire me. Keep up the great work buddy and thanks for the Pic Barb 🙂

Steve puts a 2 lb 10.3 oz tog on the board for the Riptide Derby and Joe K weighed in 2 kings and a bluefish for the derby…. Plenty of fish being caught around The Rock and the weather has been bright but a little windy.

The North end ( up by the coastguard station) is back open for the Fall season and please remember that you need the NJ State Permit to drive up there. Plenty of flounder are being taken in the Brigantine NJ surf and keepers in the inlet. The blues seem to move in for a bit and then head back out. We are loaded up with some beautiful FRESH mullet and we till have green crabs , sand fleas , fiddler crabs and minnows all in stock. We loaded back up with 50 more flatts of butters and we also have cut butters if you don't feel like working to hard 🙂 Shop is open everyday from 6:00 am to 5:00 pm call if you need bait left out back.

Lotta fish being caught in the local Brigantine waters. Tog , weakies , flounder , blues
Sheepshead , and others. Shop has been jamming and we are loaded up with FRESH mullet , green crabs , sand fleas , fiddler crabs , and minnows. Heading offshore we are LOADED with ballyhoo , butters ( cut and whole) , sardines ( flats and 5 lb boxes) and anything else you will need to nail a tuna . Shop is open every day from 6 am to 5 pm and if you can’t make it during business hours we will leave bait out back for you.

Today's weather makes me go ????? . Not sure what we are going to get but it's looking very overcast as I type.
The kings, spot , and flounder continue to feed in the surf and the tog are still hanging at the jetty. We have green crabs,sand fleas , blood worms,fiddler crabs and minnows all in stock. the boaters have been catching flounder in the back and a lot of anglers are putting in their time catching spot and filling up their cages with free bait. Some of our residential stripers have been cruising out front in the surf as we have had a couple reports of stripers being caught this past week. The migration is still hanging way North of us but the locals are always local 🙂

2024 Fall Riptide Derby permits are now available at the shop and PLEASE REMEMBER that you can drive the front beach during the hours of 6:00 pm to 9:00 am until the 16th of September if you have BOTH the Brigantine 4x4 permit AND the Riptide Derby permit.
The shop is open every day from 6:00 am to 5:00 pm and if you need bait left out back for after-hours pickup then call before 4:00 pm and we will make sure we take care of you.

2024 RIPTIDE FALL DERBY PERMITS ARE NOW AVAILABLE AT RIPTIDE BAIT AND TACKLE. If you have a valid Brigantine 4x4 ALONG with a 2024 FALL Riptide Derby Permit you will be allowed to drive the front beach of Brigantine to get to your favorite fishing spots. If you are on the front beach you MUST be in the "act" of fishing. From today to Sept 15th you can drive (with said permits) on the front beach from 6:00 pm-9:00 am. The police have been notified and will be looking if you are on the front beach for both permits and that you are in the "act" of fishing. Please follow all local regulations and DRIVE slow as the weather is warm and there will be walkers on the beach enjoying what The Rock has to offer.

Matty nailed a 20” flounder using Riptide minnows fishing with Bob S today saying it was a great day on the water. The sun is beaming and the winds are mailing it a little bit of a challenge but the fish are hungry and we have the bait. Shop will be open until 5:00 pm.
