Puddle Jumpers.
They are every professional Swim Instructor's Nightmare. They are also a parent's worst nightmare.
Hear me out.
As a 30 year Veteran Swim Instructor and Coach, I can tell you that I know a child has been in one instantly when they begin lessons. The minute a child enters the water who has been in a Puddle Jumper, their tiny bodies immediately go into a horizontal position (the UNIVERSAL drowning position) and they go under water because these devices create the muscle memory by wearing them. These children are also adamant they can swim (and they can't) because they have been conditioned by the jumper. These children take twice as long to learn to swim because Instructors have to retrain the muscle memory these jumpers created.
As a parent, your child is at a much higher risk for drowning if you place them in a Puddle Jumper. It gives your child a false sense of having the ability to swim and if they wander from your sight and enter the water aline without the device, I can assure you they will immediately sink to the bottom. It takes 30 seconds. (That's as long as it takes for you to check a text.)
I understand gymnastics, soccer, and baseball are a lot of fun. Learning to swim can be a big financial and time commitment and more often those fun activities will take priority over learning to swim. But, Learning To Swim will SAVE your child.
Enroll your child in quality, effective and progressive lessons. Ask for certifications. Make them.a priority.
Update: I have a 230-3pm and a 3-330 slot available. All others have been filled.

My Journey
Fitness and athletics has been, truly, a lifelong passion of mine. I began competitive swimming at the age of 7 and continued the sport as a long distance swimmer for the US Masters Swimming Team until the age of 32. The love for the sport turned into a 20 year coaching career in the region with USA Swimming, VHSL Swimming, and Division III Swimming.
In May of 2018, at the age of 42, 10 years after a severe shoulder injury after a Long Distance Open Water Race in 2008, becoming a mom, and a career change, I found myself in the worst shape of my life. My severe shoulder injury kept me from swimming and it was the only exercise I truly enjoyed, and the sport I excelled at for my entire life. I was depressed, full of anxiety, and lost at that point. I did a lot of research, and found that weight lifting for women was the best form of exercise to burn fat, gain strength, reduce depression and anxiety, and gain muscle. Out of pure desperation, I drove myself down to the closest 24/7 gym and joined. I could barely lift a 5lb dumbbell in the beginning, but I was determined to make major lifestyle changes because my mind and body were suffering severely.
The gym and weights proved to be the best medicine my body needed and I new it after only a month of consistent routine. My anxiety was significantly under control, I felt stronger and the depression quickly subsided because I had an outlet to release it. I began sharing my journey on my social media page. This helped me form friendships, receive motivation, and inspiration from others who were on the same journey. After a year of consistent work and dedication, I decided I absolutely had to get back into coaching and share this beautiful, life changing experience with others by becoming a Certified Personal Trainer through ISSA. Because I love athletics, and inspiring others to live a healthy, active lifestyle, this decision has given me the ability to share my passion, again, with others.
I would like to inspire you to live a healthy lifestyle, motivate you to continue your journey, and help you live longer and THRIVE in the years you are given here on this earth. I am still on my journey, because it is not something you do for a few weeks, or months. It is a lifestyle. On my page I share exercises, health tips, motivational and inspirational content, and fitness memes in order to educate and lighten the mood of exercise. Come join me in this journey and see for yourself the life changing effects a healthy, active lifestyle can give you.
