Sleepy Creek Farm
Living the homestead life raising my family.
Tomato time! The Roma harvest is rolling in. Working on creating apple wood smoked Roma sauce to can later. Unfortunately the storms collapse all my lines, however even in their sadden state they are producing tons of the red beauties. Gonna be pretty busy processing all these.
A whole lot of roma tomatoes. Tryin something new this year. All 200 plants were started from seed set up with drip line injectors and above ground sprinklers. Whole system operates off rain water collection and liquid nutrient delivery system. The results speak for them selves. Pretty excited to see where this goes. With a little technology it is also automated.
Picked up a new hobby on the farm last year when I discovered I had a whole lot of sugar maples in my woods. Didn't know i could do this in SWVA but here I am. First boil of many more to come!
Took an old pop up camper that a tree had fell on and converted it to an A-Frame Mobile chicken coop. Had it for a year now and still going strong!
So this year we decided to add ducks to the farm! So I went to work and built our first "Quack Shack". The kids are super excited of the new addition.
Work in progress, this season is finishing out well on my little farm hub. Getting the greenhouse prepped for fall. This is more than just a hobby it is a way of life. Lovin every day of it!
Excited to announce the swarm that I caught has decided to stay. Sitting out with my am coffee watching for ones landing with pollen on their legs. Seen several today which is a sure sign theyโre here to stay! If anyone comes across a wild swarm please let me or other bee keepers know. We will do what we can to move them safely.
With temps warming up my hens have started laying again. We are collecting on average 11-14 doz a week. We are starting to take orders for fresh eggs. 3$ a doz large brown eggs may change based on increase feed costs. Will be doing pick up here at the farm two Fridays of each month. Please pre order in advance. Message me for orders and pick up dates. Thanks and have a wonderful day!
