OFF THE MARK...The Aramaic correction for the insane Greek definition and use of the word SIN...

Richard was touched by the experience of Love, but was soon kicking back into his old feelings. When he first called me, he was on his way to the West to start a new life. Now he asked if a simpler solution might not be to just move on. "After all," he thought aloud, "if there is no one to trigger the pain, life is fine."
"For many people the geographic cure is an option, but it is only a temporary solution. The problem with the geographic cure is that we take ourselves and our whole reality structure with us and attract similar situations as a result. Running away does not work because the painful reality is carried within the person running. The only permanent solution is to understand and heal what is at the root of the reality structure causing the pain. Holding a space of Love while the underlying reality surfaces is how we heal.
"I invite you to focus on holding a space of Love for yourself and lets go back and look into the Aramaic meaning of sin, Richard. Watch what surfaces and be aware of your present moment realities.
"Most of us have bought into sin as something terrible and awful, something we have been taught to feel guilty and bad about. Sin was originally meant to be positive feedback. Sadly, many have even been convinced, by those who knew no better (or knew better but had ulterior motives), to identify themselves as "sinners," which tends to destroy the ability to change and leave one in a rut that has been purposely created for them.
"The English translation of the Aramaic word, khata, is 'sin.' It is an archery term. When you fired at a target and missed the bull's eye, the scorekeeper yelled, 'Sin!' It meant, 'Off the mark,' and had to do with your aim, not your identity! If, as a creative being, you take sin on as your identity, you will keep creating more of it rather than improving your aim. In practical terms, sin means improper for your energy system, less than your highest and best. It does not mean you are evil, damned or should be groveling in the dirt. The simple implication is to adjust your aim, take another, more accurate shot; in short, it is time to do something different in your life!
"The human energy system is based on Love and created in the image and likeness of Love. When you put an energy that is less than what is proper into that system, you defile or destroy it and that is all that is meant in Aramaic by the word sin. In the interest of self-preservation, it is good to have accurate feedback and know when you are 'off the mark,' have 'sinned' or another way it was said was you have 'broken the Law!' Engaging only in energies that support your energy system was called living in accord with the Law.
"Those who wish to hold power want you to think that Law is the rule of a superior. It is not, and there are no human Lawmakers - that is a fraud. The Law is the result of the action of Eternal Forces in nature, not the rule of a superior. Men pass regulations in their attempt to govern and control other men, but these are statutes, acts and legislation incorrectly called Laws."
"I don't understand what that has to do with sin, michael."
"If you understand that Law is a result of Eternal Forces and operates impersonally, that it has nothing to do with the changing whims of men, you pay careful attention to how they operate and live in harmony with those forces because it serves you to do so.
"For instance, if we step off a two thousand foot cliff, the Law of gravity does not care who we are. We have come into an avoidable collision with that Eternal Force which sustains no fracture from our violation of it. The true Laws cannot be broken! It is we who are damaged by, not the immovable Law, but our collision with it. There is not one speck of punishment involved. Men made up this fearsome punisher that would get us for our 'sins' and in so doing made an enemy of the Creator, Love. It serves those who would control to keep others in fear and at odds with the absolute best ally possible, the Law and the Creator. In so doing, those who wish to rule have created unwitting subjects who live in fear. Living in fear is one of the greatest sins, one of the worst violations of the Law there is."
"That sure puts things in a different light," Richard said.
"Yes, and it is also interesting to see that the Aramaic understanding of life is reinforced and proven by the latest in physics. If we could ask Albert Einstein about the world we call physical, he would tell us it does not exist. He would tell us that matter is energy that appears as a solid.
"The Aramaic Scriptures refer to the world of 'appearances,' cautioning not to judge by them. If we think the world is physical, we have judged by its appearance—not the fact of what it is. Is it possible that the world is energy, void of solid form and organized—by the mind—into the appearance of form? If all is energy, the body—in Aramaic the 'temple'—is energy. Recall that relative to every energy system, there are basically two qualities of energy: that which builds the system up, integrative or 'Lawful' energy, and that which burdens or tears the system down—disintegrative or 'unlawful' energy —sin."
Richard grinned. "So, sin doesn't refer to me as a person? It is just information, just feedback? If someone of integrity told me I had sinned, he would simply be informing me of an error?"
"Yes. In ancient Aramaic times, if someone did not understand the intricacies of the human energy system, that person might go to a specialist for advice. That specialist would point out one's violations of the Laws of the human energy system by calling them 'sins' and, rather than condemn, invite their client into healing. The weak would rather have subjects."
"It still feels like the old guilt trip. Or, how do you say it, michael? The reality of guilt is surfacing in my mind again.?"
"That sounds like a more accurate and responsible way to say it, Richard. Guilt is a human invention, based in fear, and supposedly designed to improve human actions and to keep people from doing a particular behavior. It is something made up by the hostile/fearful mind. In practice, it keeps people locked into their errors rather than prompting release from them. That is the kind of result hostility and/or fear always brings about, even when its advice seems to be coming from the best of intentions! Ever been told, 'I'm only doing this (beating or verbal or emotional abuse) because I 'love' you?' If so, you know exactly what I am talking about.

"Noticed that guilt usually precedes an act! It is an emotional energy that keeps error in the forefront of the mind. People tend to be attracted to the behaviors that connect them to the most energy. Programmed guilt, in fact, perpetuates behaviors that seem to 'cause' guilt." This quality of 'solution,' is always the result of a mind disconnected from Love."
"You mean that guilt causes the behavior rather than the behavior causing the guilt?!" He seemed shocked by the idea. "Are you saying that guilt is purposely instilled to control people?"
"Perhaps. A false 'specialist,' in the ancient teachings was called the priestcraft. The priestcraft came out of those who had no idea how to link to Love, and who, themselves, stayed trapped in a mind of hostility and/or fear. It is easy to spot the priestcraft, just listen to their words and tone of voice. If their words or tone are linked to hostility and/or fear, you need look no further to understand what you are dealing with. With sophisticated logic this mind may trick and trap you, but everything it says is based on a lie. Everything that it is angry with is a projection. Everything. Remember Paul's bombshell? Beware you who judge another . . . for that is what you have been practicing! It is all done with smoke and mirrors. All upset is an inside job."
"How can you be so confident in saying that, michael?"
"Its easy. Hostility and/or fear in the human system are indicators that the mind is using corrupt data to build its realities. Hostility and/or fear are indicators that the mind is off the mark, a mind that has broken the First Law. Its that simple. The person so trapped is pointing its hostility and/or fear at the one it wants to pretend is responsible for the content of its mind and/or the one it wants to control! Just as an aside, this is the root of Codependent relationships! The Codependent, in their unconsciousness, wants someone else to be responsible for and change the content of their mind, an impossible assignment!
"As a result of feeling disconnected and impoverished, (by the presence of hostility and/or fear) the priestcraft, who didn't know any better, who had lost their link to Love, developed a belief that their safety and survival came from controlling others. Out of that came all sorts of lies and tricks to gain control over those who consulted them. This mind, trapped by its own errors, connected sin with, instead of healing, 'guilt, bad and wrong,' and used that insane (read that Loveless) association to bind others, through unconsciousness, to servitude. Guilt is a connection in a mind between error and self-condemnation for that error, and is, itself, a 'sinful' or unlawful energy in which to engage. Void of the ability to produce healing, it is used by the priestcraft to control. That priest so engaged will create a thousand slippery arguments to convince everyone of its good intentions. Its arguments are all sophisticated lies."
"I hear you, but I don't understand how what you just described entraps people."

"The person stuck in 'sin,' (recall, that is just an energy that is 'off the mark,') is in a weakened condition, physically and mentally as a result of the activity and chemistry induced by that 'off the mark' energy. The priestcraft add more weakening energy to that person by instilling guilt and fear through condemnation and threat, all sinful energies in themselves. The weak 'priest' now has someone weaker to prey upon. The result, after centuries of priestcraft activity, in any field, not just the 'religious,' is a perfected and sophisticated (read that, false - phony, the trick of making the lie look true) trap. It is a deceptive system of fear, victimization, suffering, sacrifice, guilt, error and condemnation, all pretending it is about Love and Truth (God.) The presence of hostility and/or fear is the witness to the lie, the witness of lost Being. The First Law, Love has been violated and all else that follows, of necessity, is a fraud."

"But, michael, that is most of our society!," a startled Richard blurted out.
"How well I know. That is why I do what I do, and do it free. There is such insanity in the world that escape without help is virtually impossible. In an old, misunderstood language, every mind needs to be 'saved,' but not from a 'sinful' world in the sense it is used today, or from the wrathful god of the hostile/fearful mind. Being 'saved' was about rescue from the life distorting hostility and/or fear that takes us out of our Being! True Masters in all ages taught how to reconnect with Love, to restore Being, and remove even the ability of your physiology to produce hostility and/or fear, in any circumstance.
"The Master Aramaic Teacher did not come to 'save us' from the world or teach us how to avoid hell. Those are projections of the hostile/fearful mind. He came to show us how to reconnect with Being, to live in Being, to once again function as Love. Anyone using hostility and/or fear, supposedly to teach His teachings is a fraud.
"His solution was simple, 'Be as a child.' The 'First Law' of achieving that result? - Love the Creator, your neighbor (in Aramaic anyone you think about) and yourself.' How elegant, how simple - live as Love and you are alive! Function out of hostility and/or fear and you are dead.
"The dead bury the dead in their insanity. The hostility and/or fear based mind looks at Love as the solution and tries to bring correction but it cannot even comprehend the conversation! It will berate you for being off target instead of assist you in healing because it, itself, is off target. Having ears, it cannot hear! Having eyes, it cannot see. It is the blind leading the blind. It can only distort! It cannot say one True word about the Work of Being and being restored to Love. It is impossible for the hostility and/or fear based mind to bring itself or another into Love. Intimidation will not return us to Being, for a tool used to produce a result, produces a result like the tool.
"So study and information about the process will not do it? I'm getting that each must personally do the work of returning to Love before they can even begin to talk about it. All information from a mind that is producing hostility and/or fear is insane? Its advice and information only appear true because of sophistry? Wow!" Richard had reached another level of insight and enthusiasm.
"Yes, and an interesting aside is to note that there was a time that the sophists were at least honest about one thing, that they were teaching sophistry. If you look at the word 'sophomore,' connected to the 'educational' system, it comes from the word sophistry. A Junior and a Senior were levels of training in sophistry. Look up the history of the Ivy League schools and you will find that the third year of training created a Junior Sophister and the fourth year a Senior . . . Sophister.
"To educate does not mean 'to put it,' it means to 'draw out.' Any true educational system will honor and draw out the Being - Love, remember the energy of the Newborn? Nurture that and you have education. Pressure that Being into hostility and/or fear and put him in a situation where he must salivate by the bell and has no control over his own bodily functions - to the extent that he needs permission to use a bathroom, and you have indoctrination. All of the advice that comes from the mind of hostility and/or fear leads to turmoil, trauma and more war. Just take a look at what runs our world."
"That is almost more than I can take it, michael."
"Well, there is a solution! The specialist, with integrity, (one who had returned to Love and supports others in that) is known as the priesthood and is a stranger to hostility and/or fear, except as to how to heal it. They would use a 'sin,' to teach the inquiring mind how to Forgive and release itself from its errors and 'sins,' including and especially guilt. This restored the power to the person being taught rather than giving power the priest. Weak minds who have achieved so called priest status do not like to be challenged by Truth.
"The weak 'priest' verbally and emotionally destroys or carries out character assassination on those who stand for Truth. They will use highly charged emotional rhetoric and degrading language to confuse and engage others in their arguments. Their tactics sometimes include physically killing of what they perceive as their opposition. Truth is strong enough that it does not need any of those tactics!
"How many millions have been anything from verbally abused to murdered, over the centuries, in the 'name of god,' by the hostile/fearful mind? That mind convinced onlookers, by using sophistry, to think that what was being done was necessary, proper and in some cases got others, through intimidation or sly manipulation, to participate! It could only convince others to do this because those others had minds filled with hostility and/or fear. Because it is so weak, the priestcraft does its best to instill hostility and fear so that it can be in control and will have lots of allies. That is priestcraft in action - in any field of endeavor.
"Those with True solutions were called Holy. The hostile/fearful mind has a cheap copy of holy, and that is 'pious.' It is accurate to call integrative forms of energy 'holy,' rooted in the word whole, that which supports or builds the human system. The disintegrative, is 'evil.' Evil, 'bisha' in Aramaic and is another archery term. Sin is missing the bull's eye (off the mark), and evil means 'off target,' missing the target altogether. The hostile/fearful mind is always off target because the source of its information is corrupt data - it has NO True answers!

"An evil life in Aramaic is a life where one continuously engages in disintegrative energies—thus defiling one's own 'temple'—creating dis-ease and self-destruction. In Aramaic, there was no moral component to the instruction, 'Stay away from an 'evil' person.' It was pure pragmatism. If you associate with those who engage in disintegrative, self-destructive, 'evil' acts, their actions will soon appear normal. Making a behavior appear normal is the first step in persuading others to do the same."
Richard looked relieved. "When I was a kid, they always threatened me with death because I had sinned. What about that part of the Bible?"
"The reason you were told about sin in a threatening way was projection. Those who promote that type of interpretation are caught in their own sin—fear. Fear clouds the minds and destroys the bodies of those who engage in it. That is why in the Aramaic Scriptures we were told that the First Law was that of Love. In the Aramaic understanding, the Law and its Prophets hang upon the condition of Love in a mind, not on fear, not on hostility, which produces unconsciousness and error. Without the condition of Love continuously present, the searching mind will project its own errors into what it studies and whatever or whomever it sees.
"Only a mind connected to Love has healed its capacity to project and can hold a True Spiritual perspective on life—only that mind is capable of understanding the Law and the Prophets.
"All minds hooked in to hostility and/or fear will distort their view of the Scriptures, and everything else, by projecting their own pain, fear, hate and/or rage into them. This produces a mind so insane that it can conceive of punishment, torture, and murder in the name of Love as a 'logical,' 'reasonable' and 'holy' thing to do. Unfortunately, this mind often makes a study of how to defeat other leaders through attack and then dedicates itself to taking over leadership. 'Leaders' who use attack are not leaders. Strength and Truth do not need attack. Those who do are weakness masquerading as strength and want global control!
"Richard, earlier I brought up the quote 'the wages of sin is death' as another practical example of how the Aramaic understanding removes threat and just makes practical sense out of what it says. This idea is not even a religious concept. It is a statement of simple physiology and a caution to be aware of the energies in which you engage. When you focus on energies that are inappropriate to your health, prosperity and wholeness you are living in 'sin,' as we have already discussed. Bring enough disintegrative energy into any system and it will fall apart and 'die.' The result is self-destruction.
"In Aramaic, energies of hate, fear, anger, envy, guilt, jealousy, condemnation, gossip and the like are understood to be dis-integrative. To engage in them is off the mark for a human because their simple presence in the body defiles, or violates, the integrity of the 'temple' and eventually produce death in the person who engages in them. If you entertain those energies in your mind—no matter how justified you may seem—you are the one who receives the original of that destructive energy and it is your body that suffers from the destructive the chemistry that is produced by it. The person you project it on gets only a carbon copy. That is what the Scriptures were attempting to teach.
KEY THOUGHT—The vessel in which negativity is stored always suffers more damage than the object upon which that negativity is poured.
"The world," I offered, "didn't get the message. The way fear is promoted in the media and in the world is almost like worship. Twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week we can tune into an information system that gives us the details, from anywhere on the planet, of the most terrible acts of humanity and be repeatedly warned that they are heading our way. I believe fear has, in the media and many churches, been purposely used to keep people in confusion and overwhelm in order to control them."
Richard was engrossed in his thoughts. "It is almost like I've kept myself in prison by living in ignorance of this and allowing myself to be indoctrinated by hostility, fear and manipulation. It's a pretty sobering thought to realize I have been a manipulator and have purposely used that tactic by inspiring fear in people with whom I live. From what I had been taught, it was a normal way to act. As I think of it now, the feeling in my body is disgusting. What a despicable way to live!
"I grasp why it is important to be informed about these issues and why it is beneficial to be able to distinguish between integrative, and disintegrative energies. I'm beginning to understand that we are each responsible for what we set up in life." Richard appeared delighted with his understanding.
"Exactly, Richard. In the Aramaic, for those who understood, fear was not promoted nor worshipped. It was treated as a 'demon' and 'cast out'—it was an energy to be Forgiven. To emphasize condemnation, and abuse and batter people with fear, rather than encourage the expression and experience of Love and the Forgiveness of fear is error—sin. It is a signal that a person does not understand the Aramaic teaching nor the effects of a particular behavior on their own physiology. He or she does not understand how focusing on disintegrative energy produces dis-ease in themselves.
"Fear, anger, threat, guilt, manipulation, confusion and overwhelm are the dis-integrative energies at the root of all dis-ease processes. The time delay between engaging in destructive behavior and the dis-eases that are sure to follow, hides the cause-effect relationship between the two. It is then easy to blame our dis-eases on outside forces like bacteria, viruses and the like. More blame, projection and externalization"
"I can hear myself making excuses for my diseases, 'I caught the latest bug, it couldn't possibly be anything I have done!'" Richard reflected, tongue in cheek. Progress. His sense of humor was kicking in.
"Seriously though, I think I'm really starting to hear what you're saying," he said as he paused and contemplated how to put his new found insights into words. "I see why the Ancients you speak of said people would be destroyed for a lack of knowledge. See if this fits. I'm the one who has been there every time I've experienced anger, fear or guilt. I cannot feel those things unless the energy that causes them are inside of me and, if they are there, they are a burden to my tissue structure, to my whole system. They are my dis-ease!" As Richard spoke his hands were as animated as his face.
The man sitting beside me now looked much lighter and more relaxed than the one who arrived earlier in the day. "The way you present Spiritual teachings, michael, makes them sound simple, straightforward and workable. They seem almost necessary to life," he said with surprise. "It never occurred to me that Spirituality was so fundamental to living. I rejected Spirituality and religion totally due to the bitterness of my early experiences.
"It seems like I've been carrying the burden of rejecting my religion for an eternity. No wonder I'm exhausted. For years, without knowing what I was doing, I've been hiding a lot of pain from myself as I bought into the label of 'sinner.' It sounds like it's time for me to Forgive my distorted realities about religion and about myself." The sincerity in Richard's voice indicated to me that a profound shift was happening for him, perhaps the most important of his life.
KEY THOUGHT—Truth is always safe. Not sometimes, not most of the time, but all the time.
