The results are in... The Nationals took the victory over The Highlanders with a score of 706 to 680. After the memorable weekend Captain Lynn Foster accepted the Nicewonder Cup, congratulations to all the players!

Who will take away the Nicewonder Cup trophy? An annual tournament honoring the founders Don and Etta Nicewonder. Featuring The Highlanders led by captain Gene Forbes vs The Nationals led by captain Lynn Foster. Today it all comes down to the final two matches.

Today was our first Ladies’ Memorial Golf Tournament, and what an amazing turnout of 56 of the best golfers coming together to celebrate the event and engage in some wonderful competition and fun. Congratulations to all the participants!

More than just great golf (but the golf is fantastic)…

                         

Hole 1 is a beautiful hole, and a great way to start your round, but beware, to the casual observer it seems straightforward; but play it once, and you will quickly realize there is more to it than meets the eye. A downhill shot that takes more club than you think, bunkers all around the green, and a massive green with undulation after undulation. Don’t sleep on this one, or it will bite you.

It is never too early to be thinking about golf, and the 2024 Virginian Tournament season is right around the corner, and is shaping up to be the best yet. Members, get those sticks out and shake off the rust, as tournament time will be here before you know it.

The Clubhouse is home to The Golf Shop, Twenty-Two Bar & Grill, The Steakhouse, Board Room, locker rooms, Wine Cellar, and casual meeting areas. Here, you can meet your friends before you head out for a round of golf, have lunch, celebrate a special occasion, play cards, or just hang out. It’s a second home to our members, and we are pleased to welcome you to The Clubhouse.This is the heart of the club, it’s where it all happens inside its 44,000 square feet of wood and stone. Mother natures turned The Virginian into a winter wonderland The entire landscape draped in a pristine blanket of snow, turning this charming place into a magical scene. Warm fires and hot cocoa are calling – a perfect day to embrace the beauty of snow at The Virginian!

The Clubhouse is the perfect place to refuel (be it great food or beverages) at the turn, or after a round with the gang. Another reason that golf at The Virginian is the perfect sport.. play with friends, enjoy a beautiful day on a gorgeous course, and you get to eat and drink some of the best food you can get (golf course or great restaurant aside).

This says it all. It may be cold, but winter golf at The V, is still some of the most amazing golf you will ever play. The season brings new challenges to the course, but it is still a beautiful and enjoyable (all be it a bit cooler) day out.

Hole #5, “The Natural” is an amazing sight for those who get in an early fall round, with the fog rising off the water, setting an amazing stage, and an ominous warning to stay away, especially on the green, lest you get too close and find yourself with a drop and a penalty.

Fall is one of the best times of the year for golf at The V. The heat of summer is in the rear view mirror, the course is in great shape, the fairways are rolling, and the scenery is simply beautiful. The change of seasons brings new challenges to keep your round interesting, and the fall setting makes it so enjoyable.

Eugene has been here a “few years,” and always rises to the occasion on Halloween, working his fingers to the bone to get things in shape. We love celebrating Halloween almost as much as Eugene, and can’t wait for tomorrow! Boo!

There is no mistaking the fact that fall is here, the rich, colorful scenery is breathtaking and provides one of the most beautiful backdrops for a round of golf, or a stroll through the neighborhood. Fall is here, make no doubt about it - and we love it!

One of the best weekends in golf is this weekend - The Men’s Fall Member-Member. Fantastic golf meets fantastic weather, coupled with friends and fun… well, it doesn’t get better than this. Members, the registration deadline is Oct. 11 - there are a few spots left - so jump in while you can.

At The Virginian, pickleball is intense, fast-paced fun where members dive into the action-packed world of this addictive sport and experience the thrill of fantastic competition! From the beginner to the tournament player, there is no shortage of matches to be found on the courts.

The Virginian is where members gather their cherished foursome, relish the embrace of crisp autumn weather, and embark on a round at the exquisite Tom Fazio-designed golf course. This is where friends tee off with lifelong companions and forge new connections, ready to recount tales of "remember when..." in Twenty-two Bar & Grille, many years down the road. While memories may dim, the shots inch closer to the pin, the enduring bonds of friendship remain as robust as ever.

Fall is the absolute perfect time to play golf at The Virginian, the crisp mountain air is refreshing, with just the right dash of cool, and Chuck James has the course dialed in - the fairways are firm and you get a great roll to finish off striping that drive down the fairway, and the greens are rolling fast and true. Nothing compares, and this is a great walk - enjoyed!

                         

Pickleball at The Virginian is fast-growing and even faster-paced excitement for everyone, filled with intense competition and unforgettable social moments. The 5 D’s of pickleball are alive and well at the Virginian courts…Dink, duck, dip, dive and d**k!

                         

Congratulations to JP & Kathi Sutherland, crowned the 2023 Couples’ Club Champions this weekend. Great fun, and great competition at The V this weekend.

                         

In July, we aerate the course, so when autumn arrives with days like these, fantastic golf experiences await. The fairways and greens are meticulously maintained, ensuring the purest golfing experience. This is The Virginian way.

The Nicewonder Cup, honoring The Virginian’s founder, Don Nicewonder, is contested annually between The Highlanders and The Nationals teams. This year, was particularly special, with a dedication to Don, and a release of his namesake wine, the KDN Reserve. It was a memorable weekend, in which The Highlanders, led by Captain Rick Million narrowly edged The Nationals, led by Captain Ron McCall by a score of 703 to 683.
