Did you know that right next to our building at 433 Scott Street sits a little blessing box? It’s open to 𝗮𝗻𝘆𝗼𝗻𝗲 who is in need- and anyone who wants to donate. ⁣

It’s filled almost daily, and gets emptied pretty quickly. People check the box all day long.⁣
⁣
We notice the biggest need is snacks items- 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗶𝗻 𝗯𝗮𝗿𝘀, 𝘀𝗻𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝗯𝗮𝗿𝘀, 𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗱𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗸𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗱 𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗽𝘀 𝗼𝗿 𝗽𝗼𝗽𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗻, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗱𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗸𝘀. In the summer especially, 𝘄𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿. ⁣

"Harm reduction is a way of preventing disease and promoting health that meets people where they are rather than making judgements about where they should be."

Harm reduction includes many different things, such as distributing Naloxone in case overdose, and trading in used syringes for new, clean syringes. This is just one more way we can help prevent overdoses and keep our loved ones safe.

Continuing International Overdose Awareness week, today is all about the 5 Ways to Reduce the Stigma. For many people, it can be hard to ask for help for fear of being judged. Stigma surrounding individuals can have detrimental effects on treatment outcomes. Here are 5 ways that you can help reduce the stigma of substance abuse.

Saturday, August 31 is International Overdose Awareness Day. This week, leading up to Saturday, we are sharing information about overdoses- how they can be prevented, statistics, and local events.

In 2022, there were 264 drug-related deaths in Northeast Tennessee. 77 of those happened in Sullivan County, the highest amount in all the counties.

Did you hear… we have a 🎤LIVE BAND🎸joining us at the Delta this year? We had so much fun dancing along with Marques Puckett and 8 Second Ride last year and had to ask them back! We hope you’ll join us at our Louisiana-themed party and contribute in raising money for Crossroads Medical Mission.

We are OVERFLOWING with gratitude for our community that has come together to donate umbrellas and ponchos for our unhoused friends. We’ve already distributed several items and won’t run out any time soon! Good thing- it looks like we have a rainy week ahead!

We are still taking donations of ponchos and new or gently used umbrellas. Donations can be dropped off at our downtown clinic, 433 Scott Street, Bristol, Va.

Come out to join us this Saturday for the first annual crossroads Car and bike show! All proceeds will go to Crossroads Medical Mission! A special thanks to Katie Shaffer, John King, Matthew King, Jerry Hitchcock, and Becky King for hosting this event.

Show registration $20 pre registration $25 day of show at the gate all spectators will get in FREE.

Bridge to Shore Recovery Jam did not disappoint. Even though we left soggy!

Looking for a ministry or community outreach to support? Crossroads is actively collecting new ponchos and gently used or new umbrellas to regift to our unhoused community members. If you would like to contribute, you can drop off your items to our 433 Scott Street location anytime Monday thru Friday from 9am till 3pm.

Mental health issues can affect anyone.

Did you know?

****One in 5 American adults experienced a mental health condition in a given year.

****One in 6 young people have experienced a major depressive episode.

****One in 20 Americans have lived with a serious mental illness.

****Su***de is a leading cause of death in the United States. It was the second leading cause of death for people ages 10-24 in 2020. Su***de has accounted for the loss of more than 45,979 American lives in 2020, nearly double the number of lives lost to homicide.

****46.8 million (16.7%) Americans (aged 12 and older) battled a substance use disorder in the past year. 10.5% of Americans 12 and older had an alcohol use disorder in the past year.
