Just a reminder that the MSL Gear Swap is going on this Saturday August 10th from 10am to 1pm. This is a great opportunity for folks looking to clear a bit of space on their own gear rack by bringing in used items to sale or for folks looking for a good deal on “new to them” used outdoor gear to buy themselves. There is just something different about being up at Grayson Highlands where the ponies roam, ramps grow wild, and the maple trees are plugged for syrup. When the morels start popping up in the spring time, you know it’s time to make a trip up to the Highlands. Happy Earth Day, the weather is beautiful go celebrate with a hike in the woods!

Looking for something to do to celebrate Earth Day this weekend? Come join the MSL Crew for some plogging in beautiful downtown Bristol this Saturday April 20th. Plogging is a community and environmentally focused way to exercise where you pick up trash as you walk/run. This event gives us the opportunity to call attention to the importance of recycling, disposing of trash responsibly and not littering, and keeping our Historic Downtown clean. Meet at Machiavelli’s at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 20. Participants will have two walk/run routes to choose from, each starting in Historic Downtown Bristol, and then branching out to nearby neighborhoods in Tennessee and Virginia. HOKA will provide several shoes to demo during the event, and we will be set up inside the restaurant with HOKA shoes to purchase. The Bristol Rhythm & Roots Reunion Green Team will be there to talk about volunteer opportunities at Bristol Rhythm & Roots Reunion music festival coming up September 13-15 in Historic Downtown Bristol. We hope you can make it out and if you have any further questions then feel free to reach out!

Looks like the weather is going to be beautiful for our inaugural Guided Hike this weekend at Steele Creek Park. We plan on meeting at Rooster Front at 1:00pm and will go on a nature walk until 3:00pm with Biologist and Herpetologist Justin Harris. We do ask that you pre register by calling the store and signing up so we have a head count for this event. If you have any further questions then please don’t hesitate to reach out and if not we will see you Saturday April 13th at Steele Creek Park!

We are excited to announce that we are going to be offering some Nature Hikes this summer! Join Biologist and Herpetologist Justin Harris as we go hiking at Steele Creek Park on Saturday April 13th. Justin is the owner of White Blaze Outdoors and we are lucky to have him lead the hike and identify local plants and wildlife along the way. Pre-registration is required and we will be limiting the hike in order to preserve the natural experience. Call the store to sign up or if you have any further questions!

Mark it down, Monday April 1st will forever be the day that the first Musky was caught on the South Holston River. MSL Fly Fishing Guides Jimmy Cheers and Eric Dickinson couldn’t believe what they landed on 7X.

Happy Easter! The shop will be closed on Sunday March 31st so we can celebrate with friends and family but will be back at it on Monday April 1st.
