We are a week in to the spring semester. Exciting events in the Music Department coming up. The choirs will be participating at the MLK Jr. Celebration at the Bristol Train Station on Monday, 1/21, at 2:45 p.m.
As are all musicians in December, the King Music Department students and faculty are in the midst of a busy season. There are several public events coming soon and we hope you can join us.

(2) Lessons & Carols: Sunday, December 2 at 6:00 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church of Bristol
(3) Annual Christmas Concert: Friday, December 7 at 7:30 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church of Bristol
Please join us for our annual Lessons & Carols Service on December 2 at 6:00 p.m. in the sanctuary of First Presbyterian Church of Bristol. We are asking that everyone bring food or a donation for the Bristol Emergency Food Pantry.
Mark Your Calendars: King University Symphonic Band and the 250 Jazz Band Concert: Friday, November 9 at 7:30 p.m. in the sanctuary of First Presbyterian Church in Bristol, TN. For further information, call Dr. Susan Nicholson at 423-652-6332.
King University welcomes Des Amis Chamber Ensemble in concert on Tuesday, October 2 at 7:30 p.m. in Memorial Chapel. This program will include a newly composed work by Evelyn Pursley-Kopitzke. Admission is free and the concert is open to the public.
The 2018-2019 Academic Year is off and running. Welcome to all of our new music students. We look forward to a fabulous year of discovery and making music together.
We're into the home stretch for this academic year. So many great programs behind us and many still to come.

King University mourns the passing of Dr. Tom Peake. Not only a great teacher of history for 30+ years, but a great man who, through his own life, modeled Christ to all. Please pray for his family.
The new year begins in 10 days. It should be a great year! We welcome Dr. Susan Nicholson as our Director of Instrumental Studies. We also have a Carnegie Hall concert in May, 2018. Come join us in NY as a singer or a supporter.

The Music Department sadly reports of the passing of former King faculty member, Penny Mattice. Penny taught Art and Theater at King for 25 years and was very invested in the life of the Music Department. Blessed are those who die in the faith.
Congratulations to honorees at today's Awards Convocation: the ACDA National Student Award: Nathan Jones, and the Evelyn W. Snider Applied Music Scholarship: Lauren Castor.
It's hard to believe but we're beginning the final week of classes and the start of final exams. That means that the final choir concerts are also upon us. Symphonic Choir and Collegium will perform on Friday, April 21 at 7:30 p.m. in Memorial Chapel. Jazz Choir, Women's Ensemble, and Men's will perform on Saturday, April 22 at 7:30 p.m. in Memorial Chapel. Concerts are open to the public and free.
Final Band Concert for this academic year: Friday, April 7 at 7:30 p.m. at the Paramount Center for the Arts in downtown Bristol.
Lonny Finley will be retiring from King University in May. Come to his final concert and wish him well.
