On Friday, April 5th, our Senior Company dancers attended a lecture demonstration by Richmond Ballet at Southwest Virginia Community College. They also attended a masterclass we provided at the college that was given by the amazing Igor Antonov, former principal dancer and current Artistic Associate and Studio Company Director at the Richmond Ballet. Our Artistic and Development Director, Amanda Hairston, also was part of the company as a trainee from 2004-2006! We also brought our dancers to see the Studio Company perform at J.W. Adams Combined Highschool in Pound, VA thanks to the wonderful folks at Pro-Art. Check out a video below from the master class - more photos from our weekend to come!

While our upcoming production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream is 99% dancing, fans of the original play are in luck as well! We are excited to announce that Steve Baskett and Mary Ellis Rice, both actors who regularly grace the Theatre Bristol stage, will be joining us as Narrators for our ballet production. They will be weaving in favorite passages from the original Shakespeare source material amongst and betwixt the dancing. Here’s a sneak peek of one of the passages they’ll be reciting. One of our pieces for our 75th Anniversary show this Saturday is set to Amythyst Kiah’s song Myth. We are so honored to choreograph to her music! Although Amythyst will be on tour during the show, we were able to share a rehearsal video of the piece with her. We are excited to share her reaction video!
