This past weekend Leah and I were blessed to minister at Living Hope Community Church pastored by Renee and Denny Holm in Davenport, IA. This is a Foursquare church with numerous outreaches, including ministering to people in the deaf community. We had a great time of fellowship and ministry there.
In John 14:16 Jesus introduces the disciples to the Holy Spirit, who He will ask the Father to send after He is ascended back to the sit at the right hand of the Father. The Holy Spirit is like Jesus, helping us in everyday life with many things, spiritually, mentally, relationally, financially, and materially. Here are some insights about giving based on this verse:
1. The Holy Spirit is our Helper, just as Jesus was the disciple’s Helper.
2. The Holy Spirit is just like Jesus, thinking, speaking, and acting like Jesus did in every situation we may face.
3. The Holy Spirit is our ever-present Helper, willing, ready, and able to assist us in many ways.
4. The Holy Spirit is dependable, reliable, and capable of handling every situation we face in life.
The Holy Spirit illuminates the Word to show us what Jesus did at the Cross for us, reveal our identification in Him, and daily help us walk in the reality of our redemption.

We have stepped into a new year with many possibilities and opportunities. I encourage you to take time to write your vision for this year and set your goals for what you want to accomplish so that you can be in faith and accomplish God’s plan. It has been proven that having a vision and setting goals will help us to intentionally accomplish much more in life. Here are four thoughts to help us with writing vision and setting goals:
1. First, our vision should be according to God’s plan, from God’s Word and what the Holy Spirit speaks to our heart.
2. Next, our vision should be written down so we can keep God’s plan in front of us all year.
3. Then assign a due date and a timeline to each item in our vision so we can measure our progress.
4. Remember to consistently exercise faith and patience until we see our vision from God come to pass.
As you prepare to write your vision and set your goals for this year, remember what Habakkuk 2:2-3 (GWT) tells us, “Write the vision. Make it clear on tablets so that anyone can read it quickly. The vision will still happen at the appointed time. It hurries toward its goal. It won't be a lie. If it's delayed, wait for it. It will certainly happen. It won't be late.”

Being conscious of the continual inner presence of the Holy Spirit is vital and necessary for our Christian growth, and if we can learn to yield to Him as we go through life, we can enjoy a better quality of life, and be a greater blessing to humanity.
"I will ask the Father to send you another Helper, the Spirit of truth, who will remain constantly with you." (John 14:16, The Voice)
John 14:16-17 (The Passion Translation)
16–17 And I will ask the Father and he will give you another[a] Savior,[b] the Holy Spirit of Truth, who will be to you a friend just like me—and he will never leave you. The world won’t receive him because they can’t see him or know him. But you know him intimately because he remains with you and will live inside you.[c]
Footnotes of the verses above from the TPT:
(a) 14:16–17 The Greek word allos means “another of the same kind.” As Jesus is the Savior from the guilt of sin, the Holy Spirit is the Savior who saves us from the power of sin by living through us in fullness.
(b) 14:16–17 The Greek word used here is paráklētos, a technical word that could be translated “defense attorney.” It means “one called to stand next to you as a helper.” Various translations have rendered this “Counselor,” “Comforter,” “Advocate,” “Encourager,” “Intercessor,” or “Helper.” However none of these words alone are adequate and fall short in explaining the full meaning. This translation has chosen the word Savior, for it depicts the role of the Holy Spirit to protect, defend, and save us from our self and our enemies and keep us whole and healed. He is the One who guides and defends, comforts and consoles. Keep in mind that the Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Christ, our Savior. The Aramaic word is paraqleta, which is taken from two root words: (1) praq, “to end, finish, or to save,” and (2) lyta, which means “the curse.” What a beautiful word picture: the Holy Spirit comes to end the work of the curse (of sin) in our lives and to save us from its every effect! Paraqleta means “a redeemer who ends the curse.” (See Strong’s Concordance, Gr. 6561 and 6562; A Compendious Syriac Dictionary, p. 237; and Oraham’s Dictionary, p. 250.)
(c) 14:16–17 Jesus is prophesying about the coming of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost, who will indwell every believer. See Acts 2.

The Amish Church I grew up in had certain plans for me that they wanted me to follow. It looked impossible in the natural to do anything different. Everything seemed against me as I looked for a way to do something else.
But the Holy Spirit had greater plans for me. He helped me understand the truth of God's Word. He connected me to the right people who believed the Word of God. He helped me overcome the opposition and obstacles. He guided me to victory. He helped me find my place in the Body of Christ.
We must not forget to listen to the Greater One who lives in us . . . His ideas and abilities are much greater than ours. Follow Him!
"Children, you belong to God, and you have defeated these enemies. God’s Spirit is in you and is more powerful than the one that is in the world." (1 John 4:4, CEV)

"The Holy Spirit is the very element of our new existence: before us, behind us, above us, beneath us, within us, beyond us. We are buried in Him, lost in Him, encompassed by Him as by the air we breathe." - A. B. Simpson, The Gentle Love Of The Holy Spirit
Thankful for the opportunity to minister at New Life Church pastored by Pastor Michael Mattox in Auburn, Nebraska this past Sunday. This church is a blessing to this community.
"And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever." (John 14:16, NKJV)
