PARC Queens recently held an “Independence in Recovery” event.

Participants and staff “freed themselves” of self-sabotaging strategies such as negative self-talk, emotions, and perceptions. They then embraced the positives such as freedom to be at peace and open up to others. A bulletin board they decorated, featuring all they "freed themselves of," will be on display at the center.

A highlight of the event was the reveal of one participant’s new social security card, thanks to the assistance of peer professionals on staff. Just in time for Independence Day!

To learn more about the free activities, services, and workshops available at PARC (Peer Alliance Recovery Center), call 929-244-1445 (Queens) or 929-244-1500 (Brionx).
