Read BWC’s statement about the MA Senate’s sections proposed for the FY2025 Budget on our blog (https://circleboston.org/blog/). Without public comment and clarity on the definition of antisemitism, the State Senate’s effort to push through budget language could result in the misuse of the term for political ends. This runs counter to the legislative goal of effectively addressing antisemitism and places efforts toward Palestinian liberation at unwarranted risk.
Read the blog post and click on the links you find there for actions you can take today to get these outside sections (83/85 and 170) removed and to encourage the State Senate to approach this matter through a public legislative process in the next legislative session.

The state budget Conference Committee is still considering the sections in the Senate budget that could open the door for imposing an Israel-aligned curricula and civil rights laws across the state. It is the wrong way to fight antisemitism. This is scheduled to be voted on next week.
Join over 60 organizations in telling the conference committee that these policy changes must be transparent and debated through the public legislative process not through budget amendments.

"I remember that being a card-carrying member of organizations I believe in is a long part of my heritage – something my parents and their parents and theirs have found meaning and belonging in, and continue to do so.
If you are on the fence and not sure if you belong as a member at BWC, let me be a warm, curious presence welcoming you in and letting you know you do belong here." - Miriam Priven, BWC Member
