Mamie Elizabeth Till-Mobley was an educator, activist, and the mother of Emmett Till, the 14-year-old teenager murdered in Mississippi on August 28, 1955, after accusations that he had whistled at a white woman in a grocery store.

Mamie Till Mobley died January 6, 2003 of heart failure in a Chicago hospital. She was 81 years old.

There will be a sale of pots, pans, a small industrial mixer, eclair fillers, modern and old, and some personal items available for a sale today at the bakery from 2 to 4:30 pm.
Proceeds will be going to Oxfam America.

And this. From Barbara Brown. A real neighbor. When her professor husband asked to give my nephew George a ride back to Brookline (same college, professor and student) some years ago, George remarked that he could not have imagined it because professors in Greece were not that approachable. They knew each other from shop. George was highly impressed. I told him that people here are down to earth.

I would love to thank all my customers for support all these years. But most importantly for being there for me during my husband's loss. It was then that I realized that I was dealing with an exceptional group of people.
Maybe, I am thinking today, it was that both Jimmy and I were not selling just a product. We wanted to treat customers with respect, appreciation and believing that business interaction is not only about a product but also about creating a bond with a customer that continues forever.
I hope we served with a heart.
