A brief tidbit in the history of Amaro's Bakery:

Meet tio Oscar Amaro, the first owner of Amaros Bakery. As a young boy, yearning to help his mother provide food to the table, he became a baker's assistant in Tamaulipas, Mexico for many years. His time there lightened a passion and dedication for the craft that eventually led him to cross the border to the small town of Brownsville, TX in the early 70's where he will share his expertise of making traditional Mexican sweet bread to the local community. That is where Amaro's Bakery was born and put to fruition.

Tio Oscar loved to bake, so much that in his rare moments of rest only to snag a quick bite of food, you would find him in this very corner (depicted in this photo of him sitting with his great niece who was assisting him in the day's work)

Although, no longer with us, Tio Oscar lived a fruitful life from 1936 through 2020 but his legacy and love still remains with us and at the heart of Amaro's Bakery.

Amaro's Bakery today is still running by his selfless and devoted younger sister, Maria Del Carmen Amaro, who has been keeping the lights on since the very year tio Oscar opened the place. Amaro's Bakery is family operated of 3 generations and continues on its love of providing fresh and delicious sweet bread!
