Too funny
For the longest time, I felt crazy.
I couldn’t relax. I couldn’t just enjoy the moment. Being spontaneous just wasn’t something I did.
It wasn’t until my partner brought this up that I became fully conscious to it. She told me I always just seemed checked out. And numb.
I came to understand I had chronic dissociation. A protective response. Decades of sympathetic activation took a toll on my body. I was in shut down.
One Christmas, I went home and realized this same pattern was in my family. There was little joy, little celebration. Just what can only be described as a somewhat dark cloud. The dysregulation was a pattern. Playing and relaxing was foreign for all of us.
I spent months helping my body to regulate through proper sleep, nutrition, and movement. I was dissociating less and less. One day my partner looked at me and said “Aw Nicole, you’re hopeful!” I was relaxed, I was at ease and smiling.
My body was in ventral vagal.
Today I hold workshops in .circle on play. Every time people talk about how hard it for them. How they feel like they just can’t do it. Just knowing I’m not alone felt really healing.
I also notice today the teaching of rest is becoming mainstream. And I think that’s amazing— it’s clear we need rest and grounding. And, I also know some people are so stuck in sympathetic activation they can’t. Their nervous system is in danger mode. That tired but wired feeling stops them from slowing down.
Of course, there is nothing wrong with being serious. Naturally, some of us are more serious than others. The issue is when you feel like you’re outside of yourself watching other people enjoy life. When seriousness and crisis are the only emotional system you can access. When life seems like a daily fight because to your body: it is.

SINUS CONGESTION
The most likely cause is Low Vitamin A
Explanation:
There are several things that can cause sinus congestion. If it’s seasonal, obviously, either you can avoid the allergy or focus on improving your adrenals.
The adrenal glands are the potential problem behind all allergies. This is why doctors give an Epi-pen for several allergic reactions. The epi-pen is epinephrine (an adrenal neurotransmitter). Doctors also give people corticosteroids for allergies, another adrenal hormone.
If you have sinus congestion, then your blood pH is too far to the alkaline side. Start drinking apple cider vinegar (1 tablespoon in one cup of water).
Interestingly, an old injury to the nose can set the person up to get congestion in the sinuses. Many people have had old trauma to the sinuses (being punched, an object hitting the nose, sinus surgery, dental work close to the nose, etc.). If this is your condition, then acupressure is the technique that could get rid of it.
You could also have a fungus growing in your nose. In this case, you will need to do a garlic rinse: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cNM_NXwOkcQ
Sinus congestion could be caused by biofilms (build-up of microbes). Use a 1% Johnson’s baby shampoo solution, used in a Netipot or nasal irrigation. And yes, I did say baby shampoo (acts to strip down the mucus by acting as a chemical surfactant (solvent). Of course, don’t mention my name after doing this – kidding! If you are not willing to do that, you can use a xylitol nasal wash.
The sinuses can also be heavily influenced by your liver and even by the gallbladder - why? This is because the liver makes bile that absorbs vitamin A - the key nutrient to support sinuses. Vitamin A controls all the inner body surface skin. So cod liver oil is good but use the extra virgin version.
For several people who find it almost impossible to relieve their sinus congestion, high doses of calcium ascorbate (buffered vitamin C with lots of bioflavonoids) would decrease histamines. You may need 1 gram every 2 hours to see relief.
Diet:
First, increase the amount of vegetables in your diet – this provides you with tons of vitamin C, the key nutrient for your immune system.
The next thing to do is to start drinking apple cider vinegar to acidify your body a bit more – allergies tend to disappear when you add acidifiers.
Don’t be afraid to add butter and fats to the diet. These boost vitamin A levels.
Also, there is nothing that will congest a sinus faster than eating sugar, especially when it is combined with protein. Just see how you feel after BBQ ribs or sweet and sour pork – instant congestion. Keep your sugars at zero.
