Our CEO, Harold Engle was honored to sponsor Junior League Bryan College Station this year and speak last night at their committee meeting regarding our hospital and associated clinics. He spoke about a new pain group joining the hospital starting March 13, 2024. He also mentioned that adding pain management ensures we can provide continuity of care for patients from sports medicine, pain management, orthopedics, and spine. He discussed how TPCH utilizes advanced technology to provide the very best for patients in the Bryan-College Station area where they are close to home and surrounded by their community. He discussed the total knee replacement robotics using the Velys™ robot and Attune ™ knee system for less pain post-op and faster recovery times. He also discussed the MILD procedure (minimally invasive lumbar decompression) and the use of Barricaid™ for pain and spine treatments that are less invasive and more conservative than major spinal surgery. Harold also discussed the Davinci X robot technology for gynecological, general surgery, and colo-rectal surgery. We had the honor of performing our first VELYS Robot total knee replacement surgery this past Monday, January 22nd! This was also the very first time a procedure with this robot was done in Brazos County. Our first patient, who is a veteran, stated he had a great experience with us, and he had very little pain after the procedure. The robot-assisted knee replacement has demonstrated a 34% decrease in hospital stay, 33% reduction in re-admission rates at 90 days and decreased op**te analgesia use. The Attune ™ Knee System has shown improved patient-reported outcomes compared to certain other leading knee brands and performed favorably to the class of TKA in 2 national joint registries.
