If your teacher or style of yoga doesn’t want you to practice with other teachers or styles, you might be in a cult. Or, something that aspires to be a cult. Or, minimum, a community that is fragile because, deep down, it’s aware of its’ limitations and weaknesses. Remember, if teachings are true, they stand the test of scrutiny and inquiry.

Critical thinking and perspective taking are essential skills to cultivate. It’s incredibly difficult to do either if you’re in an echo-chamber. If you’re not interested in other teachers or modalities, no problem—you’ve found your people and that’s a great thing. Go deep and be happy that you’ve found your home. But, if you’re in an environment that tries to control your practice, finances, and understanding of Self, I’d encourage you to move on.

Also, please only take my classes. Other teachers are fake and terrible. (Sorry... the first 2 paragraphs felt a little heavy....). Go practice—with whoever you like:)

Y’all. Sometimes I am just undone by the thoughtfulness and kindness of humanity. Erick Reyna is a Genesis Yoga student. He is a woodworker, as was my father. He made this box for my fathers ashes. All the thought that went into it. The joinery. Because as woodworkers worth their salt, it’s important. My father would approve. The black walnut. My father’s favorite. Tall and stout like my dad. The character of the wood -complex on two walls, simple on two walls. Because aren’t we all. The curly maple top, absolutely something my father would have done because he was always mixing woods and we need a little flash. A simple box with so much intention put into it.
I had to go sit in the bathroom and pull myself together before class. Not because of the box but because of the two men it represented. One who meant the world to me and one who recognized that and did something very kind without agenda. Just because being thoughtful is an action item for some. It was for my dad. Just because compassion is here and there are nice people that should give us all hope.

A life without community is simply not how God intended us to live. What’s you’re favorite way to connect with yours? 🖤

Meet Nicole🍂 She is a wife, a mother of three and a lover of the Lord!! Her earthly passion is health and wellness. Currently, she is enrolled in the Joyful Belly School of Ayurveda and will become an Ayurvedic Health Counselor in 2023. She is also a 200 hour yoga instructor. Nicole cannot wait to share her love of Ayurveda with you and some simple and practical wisdom that can be woven into everyday life. Nicole will be teaching on Ayurveda and creating our amazing meals.
